    Hi all,
I am looking for info on Essex Home Guard units, particularly 20th (Hornchurch) and 4th (Romford) Bns in relation to a London Borough of Havering project associated with a spigot mortar (Blacker Bombardon) site in Hornchurch. The site appears to heve been a fixed defence for Hornchurch airfield and probably Home Guard manned.
The usual google search has come up with a couple of Essex Archive photos and a few Officers names who recieved awards when the Home Guard was disbanded but very little about these particular units or their members.
Does anyone have any knowledge of these units or guidelines for further research? Possible National Archive file numbers?

    Best regards,

    Mike L ;)
