Hey I was just wondering, is any collector here on the look out for their next purchase-for that real special item? or are you going to get what suits your fancy at the spur of the moment? If your looking for something hard to get? just wondering if you are willing to admit to what it is?

For me, most of ya know im on the prowl for a certain class of the Iron Cross, as well as certain photos and some other things I shant tell about yet. Whats on your hunt list?

Currently, my interests have turned toward US airborne items from WW2. Nothing any more specific than that, whatever catches my eye, Uniforms, Jump/Paraglider wings armbands patches ect. I just wish i had some funds to pursue this interest ;)

I'll be on the lookout for these items at next years Militaria 2010 show,

Deactivated weapons annoy me, they are ruined history in my opinion. Im sorry your brain dead anti-self defense legislators concoct such crazy laws, it must be tough

Something quite simple for me....a German gas-mask case. I shall get one when I see one somewhere with the right markings at the right price. It's just that that fluted case is as typical of the 'German soldier' as an Iron Cross, an MP40 or a P.08 Luger pistol.....

( You mean an 88 like this one, John....? ;) )

A mix of both, there are certainly a "few must haves" , but chance is my favorite as I usually dwellson flee markets and find what other do not see. My last example : 11 pictures dated between 1866 and 1939 with three generations of a same family going from Napoleon III Cuirassiers for the grandfather to the the WWI Poilu son and the WWII Maginot soldier grandson. These wer dug up in an old suitcase together with a dog tag from a 1908 class. Total investment.... 3 euros.

    Good morning gents
I see mention of militaria fairs. Did a google search, as I would like to go to one, and those that come up are mostly in Europe. My question - Is there a site where one can find planned shows in the US? I'm not a collector and probably never will be - just like the history.

    thanks guys

Personally I am collecting all kinds of photo albums and especially ones with pre-war and wartime pics of the Karelian cities which once were part of Finland.

What I´d like to get would be Stauffenberg´s signature for my mother as she is a "diehard fan" since her youth for some reason. I am sure that would be a great gift as well as a very precious one....I know....

I agree with you but we have no choice in the matter...it's deact or nothing i'm afraid.
In recent years, deact laws thave become stricter, this means that current deact weapons have very few moving parts and are welded up more to prevent strip downs.

Thats the one, Martin, although i'll probably have to settle for one with a steel casing as the brass ones are become harder to find.

Sounds like you Gents have soem goodies planned for future ownership.

Good Mor-well, afternoon to ya Ted ;-)) Im not sure if the site still exists but, there was one that did indeed give dates for all US Mil Shows. Ill see if I can find it? and will let youi know. If I can't find it or it no longer exists? Krause Publications publishes a Militaria Paper that always has most or all of the US shows listed. I know they have a website but i've never visited it. If I can't find anything, please Google Krause Publisations, and it should list it. Or try: Krausepublications.com I don't know if that is their site addy or not? but its another place to start.

DDucz, I know or used to know some fine folks who lived in Gaylord, Mich. By any chance? would you possibly know a Patti Francis Ruhland?

As for me, I located one item that I THINK ill probably get beat out of by either Fischer, Stewy or John if they know what sites its on? which I AINT tellin ;-)) which is a mint unissued IAB in Bronze w/ paper wrap tissue, and comes in one of those "Marbled or Smokey" boxes. I already sent an inquiry on it and just awaiting a reply ;-))

Oh and soem sad news on that RK w/ Oaks and Swords get up, I was about to close the deal when the owner informed me that one of his assistants sold the KC. Ah well, Cest Le Vie (SP?) back to ze drawing board.

Oh and IF anyone on this site is interested in getting a 1957 KC? you BETTER start looking or one now because prices are starting to sky-rocket as well as demand. I checked most of the usual places I find them on, and im basically on a "waiting list" fro one on at least three sites. Grrrr. I wonder if some of those people were peeking over here and reading about mine? and or reading what others here had to say ;-))

A few of badges I need to complete some sets are a 1939 GWB, a KVK1 with and without swords, and a decent EK1 (marked, but not necessarily boxed!).

Wouldn't mind a 1939 KC someday... just haven't got a few grand spare right now.
