If I had a choice, I would be an RAF fighter pilot on Spitfires. I love the idea of flying, and would love to learn to fly one day, so if I had to fight it would be in the most enjoyable way possible. Another thing that appeals to me about flying is the autonomy; if you are in trouble, you have the power to get yourself out of it if you have the ability. If you are on a ship, you are one of hundreds of people, and cannot use individual skill to get out of tricky situations.

Yes, being a Mosquito pilot would be something else I'd love to do. But there's no plane in the world that can match up to the gorgeous-ness of the Spitfire for me:D

    Hi Za,

That's one of my favorite Norman Rockwell paintings from the war! Thank you for sharing.

    He was excellent.

I know he doesn't rate well with the wine and croissant crowd, but I don't care what they think. Pouring globs of paint on canvas is not art. A 3 year-old can do that.

If I had to choose, not sure if i had done this yet, but i would love to be in the airborne, or the big red one.

Just the sights of Holland or France I don't think I would want to go home except for the single fact that people would be shooting at me while I would be there.

Just reading and hearing about how the men felt about Holland before the battle and even how the townspeople welcomed them, it just seemed like heaven on earth to me.

On a different note Norman Rockwell was quite an amazing artist, i had the privledge a few years ago to go to Massachusetts where they had the Rockwell Museum and he had some stunning pieces of art. One of my favorites although not war related was one of a baseball game during a rain delay.

I've always liked Norman Rockwell paintings since I was ten or so.
