I suspect there are not many images of engineers using mine detection gear in the winter. A photo from the NARA. Caption reads: "This snow covered road is swept for mines by Cpl. Joseph Demicchi, of Brownsville, PA, followed in rear by Pfc. Dennis Lulowski, of Chicago, Ill. These men are attached to 308th Engineer Combat Battalion of 83rd Division in Belgium." There is some stuff out there on the Engineers but not asmuch as you would think.. I just found out more on my Grandfather's unit.. They were in the fight for St Lo and that is where they got one of the unit citations.. it's just interesting how much they did but so little is talked about..
I remember seeing a series of photos of combat engineers taken during the Battle of the Bulge, it was from a book though, and I long have since returned it to the library. I need to find it again so I can post them.
I have to get a few that Pa has from La Harve and when they built Camp Phillip Morris and post them here for everyone.. I have seen only afew of these guys at work.. Pa explains it that there was not enought time to stop and take pics.. They had work and it needed to be done..
