In the September 1944 History of the 645th Tank Destroyer Battalion, I found an account by Clifford E. Riley, A Company, of his capture and escape from the Germans. Written in the first-person, the report is a dramatic and literate chronicle of his experiences. http://www.arktikhosting.com/pdf/645th_History_September_1944_Riley_Report.pdf He was part of a crew of an M-3 and was captured at La Valbonne, France, on 31 August 1944: camp de la valbonne, france - Google Maps The four page pdf is about three megabytes. I tried to upload it three times but each time was unsuccessful. If anyone desires a copy, just let me know. Dave
I'd love to read to it. Is it possible to simply cut-n-paste the text into a Word document and save it as a .txt file and try to attach the smaller .txt file? Is there any reason it needs to be a .pdf, such as images? Thanks, S6
Gotcha, well it sure sounds like a great read. If you'd like to email it to me, I would be happy to host the file on my server for other forum members to download. If you wish to email it: abdujap at gmail.com Cheers, S6
Thanks! Got it and have uploaded it to my server. I emailed you the link you will want to add to your post. Thanks again for sharing this, S6
Thanks Dave. I never tire of reading first hand accounts from WWII and that was definitely a fine read. Cheers Zak
I would really like to thank you for finding this. I am 99.9% sure that this is my grandfather. He died when i was very young and have very few memories of him. This really means alot to me to have a copy of this. Thank you Billy Riley Edit: I'm having trouble with the download can someone email it to me? billy.riley77@gmail.com
