Has anyone played Darkest of Days? I found out there were levels that take place in a concentration camp, a few videos on Youtube.

YouTube - Darkest of Days - Entering Auschwitz

YouTube - Darkest of Days (Escape from the Concentration Camp)

Doesn't look like much effort was put into capturing the realism of the setting in any way. The Wikipedia the entry claims the player is captured by the Wehrmacht and sent to a POW camp, but if that were the case, why is the inmate clothing like that? Can anyone who's played the game clarify, give their opinion, etc? If it is indeed a concentration camp, was it well done and in a respectful manner? I think this may be the first game to ever touch on a subject like that, shame if they did a half ass job.

It is a sort of half assed job as you imply. I don't play any games of any sort (other than chess and such) on my 'puter, but no. A new "internee" wouldn't have a set of "stripped uniform" clothing until after he/she had been processed and "releaved" of their original clothing. If they were a POW, they would have their own nation's uniform upon arrival. If it is a POW camp, none of them were anything like what is portrayed in those clips.

You wouldn't get out of the train in "stripes", you would get those distinctive "uniforms" after proceesing (including tatooing if you were a worth while slave) for the labor sections if you were sent to a KZ or a Aktion Reinhard camp. But not a POW camp. Just a first hand objection to the game as you portrayed it.

I was thinking the same thing, good to have more opinions. It seems these guys just watched a bunch of movies, did little to no research, and made a game. I tried the demo, first level takes place during Custer's Last Stand (your player is a Confederate soldier), the way it happened felt a bit "unnatural".

What is a Confederate soldier doing in Montana at the Battle of the Little Big Horn? That is the name given to what used to be referred to as Custer's Last Stand. Either that or the Sioux/Cheynne name for it; The Battle at Greasy Grass.

Whoops, got Darkest of Days mixed up with Call of Juarez! Your character is a member of Custer's army with the first level taking place at this last stand.

Don't worry, the game sucks. ;)

Call of Juarez on the other hand is pretty good, I'm a sucker for the wild west.

I have played the demo for Darkest of Days, loved it, and will certainly buy the full game once i get money.

Call of Juarez is great too.

You liked it? The concept sounds great, just the execution is horrible, the game has various plotholes, bugs, etc.

I'm not saying you should never buy it of course, just not a $60 game.

True, but it does hurt ones enjoyment of a game.
