D-Day Beaches

I don't know how many people in this site have walked the D-Day Beaches and towns of St. Mere Eglise, but to really appreciate what was done on D-Day you need to do it. Also I would highly reccomend going to the small town of Angoville-Au-Plain and learn the story of the US Airbourne Medics who established a small field hospital there.

 

I always wanted to visit Carentan Causeway.

 

i was there a few months back.. its was very special.>!

 

Did you take any pictures? Does it still look like it would in 1944? If I find there has been a Wal-Mart or McDonald's built there, I will seriously hurt someone.

 

i have pictures, and its not becoming a modern city. it still have the looks of 1944











cant find more right now. i though i also have pics from the streets..

Those pictures are awesome. Here is a little information about the dummy and parachute at the top of the bell tower.


Private John M. Steele (1912-1969) was the American paratrooper made famous in the movie, The Longest Day who landed in Sainte-Mère-Église, the first village in Normandy liberated by the Americans on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
