They are no longer with us and would not talk about it much. One mentioned all the destruction he saw and that was about it. I have never met my German ancestors who served. My main interest is the eastern front especially Kursk.

Hey. I also thank you for your service, I greatly appreciate it and cannot imagine the sacrifice. I think I can help somewhat with Kursk (although in the Eastern front I mostly try and learn about Stalingrad, so forgive me if there are any inaccuracies). Kursk was big on armored and aerial battles. It was one of the largest string of battles with armored attacks in them. The German forces were attempting to make up for their defeat in The Battle of Stalingrad by eliminating what I know of as the "Kursk bulge". the Germans managed to surround the Russians, but they were outnumbered and had numerous delays waiting for supplies and weapons.
