I located information on a Great Uncle who served in World War I. I had written for help on him before. I need help on the abbreviations used in Organizations he was in during the War.

    Name Matthew Cornetta

    Enlisted Ft. Slocum, N. Y. Jan. 23. 1918

Organizations: 3rd Motor Mec Regt Stg C to June 1, 1918
9th Co 3 Regt Air Serv Mec AEF to April 9, 1919
    463 Aero Sq to discharge

Can some one decipher the unit info and does anyone know about Ft. Slocum. d. gaddie

Fgrun83--You can't believe how hard I've looked to find for a list of Navy abbreviations. Thanks a million and a well deserved salute.

Thanks so much for help and sites. Now I want to try to figure out where he was overseas by the company and units. If anyone has ideas where to start looking, please add info.

I have found several sites on Ft. Slocum which is also David's Island. It was one of largest recruiting stations in World War I. d. Gaddie

Thanks for definitions. I am hoping to connect them to my Dad's service record. He was in the Philippines too. I am trying to find out what Company and Unit he was in and hoped these abbreviations would give a cue. It appears that in Fall of 1942 he was at Camp Crowder which was School for Signal Corps. It actually became The Central Signal Corps Training Center. It was located in Neosho, Missouri which is about 25 miles from Joplin, Missouri. dng
