All papers are guilty of sensationalising stories, it keeps them in a job.
Personally, I can't be bothered with newspaper snobbery; if I think a WW2 story is interesting enough, I'll post a link. I don't give a Simian's copulation if it came from ”Socialist Worker” or “The Watchtower”.
You know how pathetic it's getting when, not content with tabloids and broadsheets categories, people start breaking it down further into “redtops”. So what do THEY read, the effing “Beano”?

All papers do it, the only difference is that 'broadsheets' tend to have political motives tied in to the owners support of whatever parties and are generally a bit cleverer about the way they work. Tabloids are not particularly subtle and are happy to openly lie (or tell half a story) in order to push their agenda.

I don't trust any of them, however I tend to trust broadsheets more because they tend not to openly lie (and the agenda they push can be factored in without destroying the story).

As for snobbery, it depends what you mean. I don't see anything 'snobbish' about saying 'this is better than that' particularly if you cite evidence. My dislike of the Daily Mail isn't snobbery, it is based on the fact that their stories are frequently designed to whip up hatred even if it means telling half truths/lies.

But hey, read what you want, just do it intelligentl. Nothing wrong with reading a red-top as long as you are bright enough to spot a. what they are trying to push and b. which bits simply aren't true.

Oh come on Gordon, I can happily cite evidence to prove that they frequently either lie or tell half a story. It isn't opinion, it is fact. As for whipping up hatred, well that is the result of what they print though proving intent isn't so simply clearly.

And I could do the same for every other paper. ;)
It's strange, but out of the thousands of news stories I've linked to over the years in local, national and international papers, only the Dail Mail ones tend to attract snide comments from people who then claim not to be newspaper snobs.

I seriously havent bought a paper for over a year...I go to news now site and choose my own indexed stories on matters I am only interested in. Thus avoiding the dross and getting a pretty good selection of all sides right and left daft and real on the same story.
And it dont cost a penny...Try it. And just select your faves. Military news articles brings em up from all over world with all sides of story presented. Then it really is up to you to use your own intelligence.

:D You should be very careful: the Aztecs are mixed with the same Spaniards who managed to drive the Moors back to Africa.

It took about 800 years. At the start point the throne of Spain was a horse saddle.

The current Spanish are far more stupid, They're letting the Moors to return.

The where were you question is unnecessary mate. We can all show our support in any way we like without having a question like that put to us...I could well ask them or anyone, if its so important to show support to the tropps then flaming well join up like some of did. The ultimate and real support.

Wich one? The word mixed ? Wich is the correct synonymous?

All the post? The idea that a conflict don´t end with a teatry?

In fact I don't understand that people took his own flag to beg rights in a foreing land, it's madness.

Because they tend to be far more obvious and it is much harder to believe people fall for their rubbish. I didn't say any paper was particularly reliable, I just find that it is far more frequently the mail publishing this stuff.

I write them all off as self interested liars. I just happen to find more objectionable stuff in the Mail. That's not snobbery, that is picking on the worst of a bad bunch.

Tell you what; draw me up a list of "acceptable" papers, and I'll try to limit any links purely to those in future.
You know how I hate to upset people.
