I am new to this forum, so if my post is inappropriate for this section, please excuse:

My father passed away last month and he was a pack rat extraordinare. While cleaning out the attic in his garage, my mother discovered a wooden box containing "metal tubes". She asked me if I wanted them or if she should have them taken to the town garbage dump. Having my father's genes, I never take anything to the dump unless it is truly trash. I now have the "metal tubes" in my garage (no attic). The box has no markings of any kind on it. The box contains - what I believe - are 12 Garand barrels. They are covered in grease and each wrapped in brown paper. Both ends of the barrels are capped to protect the nose and threads. I have not tried removing the grease, but they appear to be new/unissued. The markings are SA 12-54, SA 1-55, SA 2-55, etc. I have collected M-1 Carbines over the years, but do not have much interest in Garands and think these could be of interest to Garand affectionados. Does anyone know what the value might be and whether any organizations/individuals could put them to good use??

You might be able to find out both their worth and who might be interested in that at the message board at Numrich.

    Goto:

    Good Luck!

They are probably worth $200.00 - $250.00 if they are NOS. Around $150.00 if they are just in good condition. If you want to donate them this would be a good place.

Contact Bill Ricca; he's a dealer in USGI parts & accessories for among other things the M1 Garand. He's also on the board of the Garand Collectors Assoc.
    His website: www.billricca.com

I would be very happy to purchase at least one of them. I have a 1944 M1 Garand Springfield and my barrel is 1966 and the muzzle is worn. Does shoot to the left a little. I would love to replace my barrel.
