But the Woolwich Arse aren't even the best team in South London, not to mention London as a whole:stickpoke:

Chelsea *spit* are surely the current "Kings of London"

We're not even talking about Spurs :p

But, the p**s-taking set aside, Chelsea are the best in London at the moment. :headbash: They're all about the money, that team. The new age Real Madrid, just loads of dough and famous names. They dont even have devout fans anymore, it's all just hangers-on, much like Man Utd.

Well, then again, it is the EPL, the richest footie league in the world, so that's justifiable.

To be spoken to the theme of "Choose Life"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVp9TI-z2_Q

    Choose Arsenal
    Choose overbearing arrogance.
Choose systematic dirty play and calling it "competitiveness".
Choose the most staged, contrived, up-your-own-ar$es goal celebrations ever witnessed.
Choose winning two championships in eleven seasons and acting like you've won seven in nine.
Choose paying £9 million for Francis Jeffers.
Choose Dennis Bergkamp and his carefully-timed elbows into the side of the head.
Choose deliberately disrespecting and belittling the other team by playing keepy-uppy in their half with a few minutes to go.

Choose fancying yourselves as better than Real Madrid, then having Chelsea run rings around you at home. Choose turning the sports section of the observer into a gunners fanzine.
Choose getting away with light or delayed punishments at FA disciplinary hearings because you've had every possible string pulled by David Dein.

Choose a persecution complex nonetheless and never shut up about it.
Choose embarrassing yourselves in a Renault "va-va-voom" ad and then disgracing yourselves further at the world cup finals.

Choose David Seaman and his public mid-life crisis.
Choose watching an opponent miss a last-minute penalty against you, then running after him and jeering him.
Choose George Graham grinding his way to the dullest championship win of all time.
Choose to see yourselves as one of the giants of continental football when you've never even reached a European cup semi-final in your entire history.

Choose picking Ray Parlour for over a decade.
Choose having the quietest stadium in the world ("The Library") as your home ground, and then having the cheek to slag Man Utd about their fans.

Choose having Nick Hornby as the mouthpiece of your supporters.
Choose pretending that five or six years of playing in a watchable fashion makes up for inflicting over a century of ultra-defensive dogsh*t on English football watchers.

Choose Igor Stepanovs, Nelson Vivas, Kanu, Pascal Cygan, Davor Suker, Gilles Grimandi, David Grondin, Remi Garde, Kaba Diawara, Junichi Inamoto, Jeremie Aliadiere, Oleg Luzhny, Luis Boa Morte, Richard Wright, Stefan Malz, Christopher Wreh, and all the other turkeys that nobody ever mentions when creaming themselves about how great Wenger is in the transfer market.

Choose 58 red cards in seven years.
Choose bottling the treble despite having all the luck in the world.
    Choose Arsenal

    :D

This just proves that Arsenal trump all the other teams...the time it took to research and write all that would never be wasted on a team like Liverpool.

All very tongue in cheek too, since much worse things can be said about teams like Man Utd and Chelsea.

Interestingly, Chelsea over the last 10 years seems to have collected more Yellow and Red cards then any other team (always top 3 in the category) and shockingly Man Utd isn't as high as I would think, but then again Refs always rule in Sir Alex's favor in such matters (Roy Keane, anyone?).

Arsenal are not a dirty team at all...kinda funny that should be mentioned. I think Man Utd holds the dirtiest team category, for a very long time. Arsenal have always been at the top of the league, and who can forget the Invincibles? I don't see Man Utd or Chelsea or Liverpool playing an entire season undefeated...or holding the longest unbeaten record (46 games).

David Seaman is an Arsenal and English great. 'Nuff said.

If my Europe cup you mean the Champions league? I do believe we've got to the semi's on several occasions and the finals once.

Pretty sure that red card stat is pretty bogus too.

Can I just go on record and say that I absolutely admire Arsenal for their commitment to attractive positive football something that United Fans absolutely adore. As a sidenote my favourite Premiership player ever that didnt play for United was Dennis Bergkamp, an absolute magician with a ball. That previous post was definitely Tongue in Cheek!

Those 'Frenchies' are on the third best team in England. What does that say about the English?

Well, lets see, of the starting 11: Sagna, Gallas, Clichy, Nasri....so 4 frenchies. Vermalen is Belgium, Fabregas is Spanish, Denilson is Brazilian, Song Billong is Cameron or some such, or Rosicky who has been filling in for him is Czech I think. The Russian Rocket Arshavin is, well Russian. Bench players etc...RVP is Dutch, Walcott, Wilshere, and Gibbs are all British. Of course, the Welsh wonder kid Ramsey in there too, oh year Sol Campbell is back. So 4 Brits, 4 Frenchies...evens it out.

Arsenal play the most attractive football in England, hands down. Even the haters have to admit that, and its commonly praised in the Footballing world. Given the age of their players, to be in the Top 4 is pretty impressive especially when you can field a team with the average age of 19...none of the other top clubs can say that.

EDIT: Ironically, the old style of Arsenal play (from which "One Nil to the Arsenal" comes from) is very similar to the NHL team I support - the NJ Devils - though the Devils just picked up a high-scoring forward to add a little more to their defensive minded game). Even more Ironic, such play styles seems to be pretty effective.

Being a football fan is a totally illogical thing . Watford are small club with relatively meagre resources and will always be in the shadow of the likes of Arsenal .. incidentally there is only a fence between Arsenals and Watfords training grounds ..and in recent years Watford have loaned a few of Arsenals young stars .
Watford were my first love and now i'm cursed to follow them through thick and thin for ever more .
I started supporting Watford ,my local league side when I was 11 ..at this time Graham Taylor , later Englands manager and now back at the club as chairmen ,took over as manager of the struggling 4th division team. By aged 16 Watford finished second behind the mighty champions Liverpool .
I remember going to one cup match when Watford were in the 3rd Division ...they were 4.0 down to southampton ,from the 1st first leg who were in the 1st division ....that dark night Watford ran out 7.1 winners ..what a night ! In the same campaign they met reigning European champions Notts forest ...lowly Watford won 3.0 ...none of us could talk for days after we had done so much shouting .
I was fortunate to be in the right time and place to witness just about the most spectacular change in a clubs fortunes , in the history of British football ...Ok , they had Elton Johns money , but they also largely kept the same team up through the divisions , Graham Taylor was a fantastic motivator ...he will always be godlike to Watford supporters...It was a magical time and all part of the romance that goes with supporting a smaller club .
I could be one of those shallow glory supporters that supports only the biggest and best clubs ...but quite frankly think this just a little sad .
Most Football supporters dont care about pretty football , we just want to see our teams win .
Incidentally , I'm hoping the authorities will bring in the suggestion to greatly restrict the number of foreigners at each English club ...I'm very much an England fan and the pool of players available to the national squad has greatly diminished ....foreigners , boot them all out I say , most are merely overpaid mercenaries , we don't need them , train up our youngsters .
As an ex sports coach ,I fully know how raw recruits can be developed into highly motivated , talented sports people ...we just need to have a little bit of faith and do some hard work .
    Rant over

Kicking out the Europeans from English Football would drastically reduce the skill in the league.

Wenger, I think, is the best Manager at spotting young talent (as his team, and the youth team, have shown). I like how he lets the youngsters play the FA Cup, the whole way through, giving them some real experience on the top level. Most, if not all, the other clubs play their first team players in the FA Cup.

The one thing I think should be limited in EPL is big money spending. What Man City has done (and Real Madrid for that matter, over in Spain) is simply ludicrous, especially in this era of financial woes. Those teams, set alone, paid more for players during the off-season then the GDP of half the worlds countries. If you have that much money you want to spend, there are plenty of people (like me!) who could use some!

As for supporting the big 4 Clubs, of course you have the fair weather fans (same with Barcelona). I, for one, was born and bred an Arsenal fan living in South London. My dad was lucky enough to play against them in College (and his team obviously didn't even touch the ball) as a training ground scrimmage (I believe he as attending Kings College of London at the time).

My mom is actually a Watford girl, her hometown, and I was unfortuneate enough to be in England the last time Watford were in the EPL and got to watch the most 'exciting' game between them and Newcastle (I believe). At the time, they held the last and second to last positions in the league!

Next time in England I plan on catching an Arsenal game, no matter what the cost or the opponent.

Who cares about fancy skills ,football was far more enjoyable in the past ...as I said winning is the most important thing .
In Watfords glory days ,they were well known for playing route one football , it was blitzgrieg and damned exciting ...all this fancy stuff is for the girls ...its a mans game ...bring back the tough , rough and tumble .
I would love to see football go back to what it was in the beginning , local players , playing for local teams ....hopefully all these wealthy foriegn businessmen will eventually bankrupt the whole damned show ...its beginning to happen ....loads of clubs are on the edge , including Man U and Liverpool .
Its pathetic and obscene what the players are paid ..and supporters charged to watch . Nobody is really worth $ 1000 a week to kick a football , let alone the $ 500,000 per week many players get . If you ever wanted one example of how sick our society is then this is it .
In reality clubs like Arsenal have no right to complain about the riches of Chelsea and Man. City ..for Arsenal are still globally a massively wealthy football club ...and even my beloved Watford can cherry pick the cream of the lower leagues and scottish clubs best players .
As I say , I would positively welcome the big clubs collapsing and bringing the whole morally corrupt system down . Perhaps this would rejuvenate the game ....I would get as pleasure watching 2 pub teams fight out a 3.3 draw as watching Arsenal and Man U play out a drab 0.0 .
Come on you wealthy Yankies , Arabs and Chinese businessmen ,buy up our clubs and lose lots of money .:D

I agree, though while of the younger generation, I think the amount of acting that goes into football these days is incredible. The FA Cup Final between Man Utd and Arsenal from the 70's or some such was a pretty rough and tumble game, and very exciting. That sort of contact today and half the teams would have been sent off.

You see that in every sport now too though. Pretty soon, American Football is going to be two-hand-touch.

American football .......surely thats just Rugby with padding .
...And while we are on the topic of strangeness in sport ,why on earth is there a world series in N.America ,when its only the Yanks and Canadians that take rounders seriously ? come to think of it basketball is only glorified netball....both sports that were only associated with the girls in my school days .
A final thought , why has the best team game ever devised ie cricket never taken off in the USA ? ..too complex ? Requires too much skill ? ..only tossing up thoughts .

    Oh come off it.

That 1-0 win over Everton was a right shame to watch anyway. All the diving, swearing and squabbling really got in the way of the football. Pienaar got sent off for nothing. That was a right cheeky dive by Gerrard, I think.

Anyways, we'll see you at the Emirates on Wednesday, should be good fun to watch.

Gerrard did have a pretty dirty tackle on him earlier in the game (got a yellow for it) though I didn't see the red-card sending off. And Everton are a pretty rubbish team, not much in the way of attack

Didn't see the Arsenal game today, but I'd love to see Liverpool do better. I think next week its Liverpool Arsenal isn't it? We're sorely missing a proper striker though - Arshavin is a great attacking midfielder, but doesn't have the size to be a striker.

Speaking of Arshavin, how many goals do you think he'll score on Liverpool this time around?
