    Does this make sense?

A 1918 luger with a British Royal Arms motto on the buckle and crown on the holster???

Are they mismatched or did some Brits/french get issued german pistols??

Officers were allowed to do private purchases for their sidearms at certain times. Perhaps this is the case here. Neat rig either way.

This is pure guesswork, but could the Luger have been 'souvenired' during WW1 and carried by a British officer on service between the wars...?

True but it had to chamber the standard 0.455 pistol round.
