PEOPLE WHO WRITE LIKE THIS - STOP! It really irks me when people write in CAPITALS when creating a new thread. I've noticed it more and more lately. If its meant to try and grab attention, it does the complete opposite. When I see a thread in such a manner, I typically ignore it. Coming up with a catchy thread title that draws the attention, or is somewhat intriguing, will gather far more views. It might be a younger generation thing as I see it more and more often on other sites too. Am I alone with my feelings or does anyone else feel the same way?
I generally find CAPS to be either shouting via Internet forum, or LOOK AT ME attention seeking. Or general ignorance of the previous.
I agree. I find it annoying when I see a thread title in all caps. It gets worse when the post is all caps as well.
And while I agree with the exasperation of the ALL CAPS posters, those with no caps at all are also a bit less pleasant to read for some reason (no offense intended Ray/sniper). My old aging eyes (six operations on 'em) have trouble separating out the words at first glance. All caps are easier to read, but sort of hard to figure out the emotions of the sender. Then there are those whose main goal in life seems to be clogging up their post with "clever" emoitcons instead of words and punctuation. I think ALL CAPS, and "text/style" spelling in a post are my two pet peeves.
the other side of the coin clint, that makes it common sense to post in capitals,as did recently the vet ron? I think it was? asked specifically to post bold and large because of failng eye sight,ray..
Typing big doesn't mean all CAPS, just an adjustment of the font size. I notice too, Sniper, that you don't have a 'space' after your 'commas' but you do after other punctuation points. Was that the way you were taught or your own method? I've been taught you always put a space after punctuation in a sentence, whether it be a comma, colon, or period, etc.
I actually stopped noticing this 10 years ago...maybe it's because I spend so much time in front of word documents or I have several friends who seemingly remove their caps lock keys once they buy the computer and have pushed it in. If a headline catches my attention, I'll read it. Doesn't matter to me what it's typed in.
I TOTALLY AGREE. I DID THOUGH STOP NOTICING THEM MANY YEARS AGO. HANG EM UP BY THE GOONERS I SAY. NO MORE CAPITALS. AFTER ALL WITHOUT BERLIN THE WORLD COULD BE MUCH DIFFERENT TODAY.
I would like to point out not everyone has good eyesight, I know a member of another forum who writes in capitals because of there eyesight is poor. Maybe it would be better ask before getting up tight. I do except for those who have good eyesight they should try to re-frame from using it.
i'm not sure if i agree or not. all capitals. or not to capitalize? too many other things going on to worry bout' that. on one hand i see the point on the other hand ....huh ? what gets me is people who ramble on and on about nothing. and then again some of the ramblings are interesting in their own right. but then again it gets monotonous after a while. sometimes though it becomes hard to stop writing what you think is interesting. know what i mean? i see it this way, when you're on a roll and the brain is going 90 miles a minute but your thinking is traveling along at about 27 mph you get caught up in wondering just what the main idea was.
What gets me the most is the ones who uses the text messaging script. I don't text. Or twit. Twiter is for twits.
