I would be really greatfull if anyone could help in identifying this handsome chap.
I would like to collect his medals to give to my father for his birthday. I do not know much about his serving history of WWII, but i do believe he served in Africa and Italy and he is Infantry. But that is all i know. This is also the only photo i have.

Any ideas? I only have these 2 photos to go from.

thank you for your help. He could have been in Polish brigade but my father never mentioned this, plus he was not polish?

But perhaps with his date of birth and full name i can phone the MOD office.

thank you for your help, i will look into the polish thing but my father never mentioned this, and he was not polish himself.

If i have his date of birth and full name then perhaps i could call the MOD to find out more.

I agree that it is 8th Army Division - which makes sense with the location of service, underneath the badge I can see a strip that has different colours and if it is only 2 colours, being light first and then dark, possibly Royal Armoured Corps or RASC. See British Formation Signs

Michelle, Its an Arm-Of -Service, strip and I reckon it might be red and blue which is Royal Artillery, and being as the weding pic is earlier and it does not look like a RA badge perhaps he changed regiments. Jason

That definitely makes sense with regards to the Africa ribbon, Maybe he went to Italy after the photo was taken. I am just wanting to find out as he never collected his medals and my father was very close to him and i would just like to get them for him. He died very young.

I have found one other photo from his wedding in the hope you can see the cap badge more, but it is still very tricky.

Thank you all for your help.

if you click onto the larger photo you will see the 1 on his Africa Star ribbon.
That denotes service with First Army, it only existed for the Tunisian campaign.
The formation sign on his arm does indeed denote he was in Eighth Army.
    It's not a Division it's an ARMY.
It would suggest that the photo was taken in Italy .
