Great photos. We see and read so much about the battle for Iwo Jima, but little about the later use of the island for an air base. I see supplies of beer got through!
Thanks for sharing. It's good to see some attention given to the efforts of the 'Sunsetters'. Most people don't know about the sacrifices of those P51 pilots. It's hard to imagine spending 8-9 hours in the cockpit of one of those fighters.
One of the photos shows aircrews drinking Ballantine Beer. I had never heard of it before but its history is interesting. Apparently at one time it was the #3 selling beer in the US. Great pictures. Are they copyrighted? If not, I may upload some of them into related Wikipedia articles.
