hey guys! can you tell me everything you know about machine guns? it counts for 20% of my grade. thx matt
Perhaps you can type not only machine but also every relevant question into Google to find the answer. Doing to assignment yourself is very important, this is why they give you them. It helps you not only solve the problem of a question but also take the steps and means to find the answer. If we simply just give you the answers you would not have to search for anything and we would be giving you the answer on a silver plate, and this will just not do. So, try using Google, show us you actually intend to try to find information by yourself then we will help you with the questions you can not find the answers too by pointing you in the right direction.
I was a machine-gunner when I was in the army back in the old days. Carried an M-60 LMG (light machine gun). Light my a$$, it was heavy, and had to be cleaned frequently so it would not foul when being fired. The spare barrel bag, T & E mechanism and extra ammo cans were real heavy too, in addition to everything else under God's Green Earth the army gave me to carry when we went camping. My platoon was always short-handed, so that meant that I didn't have an assistant gunner or ammo bearer, so guess who got to carry all of that stuff that they normally carried? Yep, you guessed it, it was me. Gobs of fun. I was so happy to turn that big beech in when I got out of the army I almost crapped my pants. Other than that, it was a peach. Maximum range of 3,725 meters (nothing can survive within three-seven-two-five), maximum effective range of 1,100 meters, tracer burn out at 900 meters, blah blah blah. But as mentioned earlier, after firing it, you had to scrub it or it would leave you hanging when you needed it. There, that ought to do it. Let us know how your grade turns out....
i suppose your right. i just need to know about experiences you've had with it, etc.. because i need some primary sources. so thanks a-58 and for the link opanapointer.
Dig in and do your own research kid. You'll learn much more about things when you do your own dirty work like Tomcat explained. If you need something else other than basic book learnin', that's when you come back and ask for first-hand experience to supplement your research. We have some real trigger-pullers on the forum that have real combat experiences, not like mine that was peace-time drills. Good luck, and don't take all this gruff stuff too serious. We really like to help people, not to do their homework for them. That way we all learn something at the same time.
And let us know how you do, Seriously. If you research a little on this site alone you'll probably ace the darn thing.
