Yesterday I found a bunch of British and Commonwealth insignias for sale in a basket at our local flea market. From what I see they are genuine insignias, shoulder tabs, clasps and pins from WWII (George VI crown) and possibly earlier for some of them , as colours, material, and backs are different. I have similar badges with either a claps or a pin. Anyway some expertise would be more tnanwelcome and in the meantime I'm happy to shar emy find with you This is one large insignia, I believe Uk infantry Is this cavalry? New Zealand Hampshire York and Lancashire
I dont know about david beckham skipper! but we'll have to call you "golden balls" I think! right place! right time! yet again! well done, great pics too, ray..
In fact the seller already had them a week before, but they went unoticed becaus ethey were tuck away in shoebox with civilan medals and modern junk publicity pins, cheap earings and much more.... Good thing I bothered checking. Besides not too many people are capable of recognizing these and/or are not interested in these. Good for me. This being said I paid quite an amount for them , but it was worth every penny.
NZFA = New Zealand Field Artillery (artillery in the field) Isn' tthat WWI? That would be even better. NZR ? Could be New Zealand Railways, but I doubt it, could it be regiment?
The Canadian Ordnance is WWI, the real deal. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROYAL-CANADIAN-ORDNANCE-CORPS-CAP-BADGE-SPLIT-PIN-TYPE/230417408353 If you need more info on British Commonwealth Badge Forums will help classify all your Badges.
Thanks guys, I believe they are mostly WWI indeed. What pointed me to this was the fact that some of these units did no longer exist in WWII. For instance the crossed swords (cavalry) . When I have time I shall post the WWII and WWI versions side to side so you may compare them.
Not cavalry. Very similar to the modern Army Physical Training Corps cap badge but before 1918 it was called the Army Gymnastic Staff. See the cap-badge on a war grave
