I put a new avatar up so y'all can see what I look like. I cropped it out of another picture. There are 3 more of us in the original. We were training how to fight a propane tank fire.
I do too. It is dark blue and was my grandfather's, from when he was a prison road gang guard back in the 1960s.
That's a cute one about the mouse and the Guinness! The avatars I choose are usually of vehicles I've owned, or operated. Don't ask me why, I just like using them. Just for fun I changed it to one of my family on horseback in 1966, I know it is small in this form, but that is myself on the far right in the picture, far left of the group.
Hi Ray, thanks for the compliments ;-)) Me? a Gentleman?-well, maybe in training ;-)) Tell you the truth, I sometimes wondered what was behind a person choosing a certain avatar? For instance, a German Helmet-to me would connotate that the person likes to collect militaria. If that were the case w/ me though? i'd have to have Andys Ulan Helmet as those are simply killer works of art ;-)) John Wayne works for me though, but sometimes I wish I could have more than one avatar displayed. This meaninig that I could actually have several stored in my account deal, and it automatically changes once a day every day of the week before geting back to the original one ;-)) Some of thwe avatars I see denote (at least to me) that the person "behind" it has a good sense of humor for one with a funny avatar-like Suzies is with the Chermin Soldat mere milimeters from getting his nice clean uniform all dirty and wet if his foot gives out?
Oh now I get it, the John Wayne is the avatar!!! I always thought its them medals next to him - and that made me believe that Carl is into collecting of medals from the "Lesser Period". I like my Ulan Tschapka too Regards Kruska
For me, I just use my father's picture since I joined this site to find out more about his service. In the past year I've learned a lot, not only about his unit, but other aspects of WW2 that I didn't know. I keep the avatar, mainly because I'm too lazy to change it.
your welcome ccarl, thats how you come across to me, the helmet, yes! that would make sense a collector, now you know that's me, get otto to set up a loop avatar which will run as a slide show of the avatars you want to have, ray..
Don't forget Carl. not only is Ray a collector, but he seems to be a fan of western classics... Kinda odd for a Brit don't you think? hehe
Ahh, Carl you read me like a book! Just imagine what that guy had to endure .. getting laughed at after slipping on ice, probably pulling a groin, dignity lost forever, and his most embarrising moment is captured for the world to laugh at. Now there's a moment he'd like back! I'm glad you people are getting to know me... I was starting to worry
