    Hello Everyone!

I want to do a painting of the IJN carrier Ryujo launching her planes on the first day of the Battle of dutch harbor.

I am currently reading "The Thousand Mile War", and it says that the Japanese task force moved in towards Dutch Harbor under a front moving from west to east.

Does anyone have any sources that tell the direction the carriers turned to to launch into the wind? From reading about the storm front, it would seem they would turn west into the wind propelling the storm, but I am not sure.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you're really serious about an accurate depiction, you probably need to obtain one of the Japanese picture/graphics books related to the battle or to that ship. The forum to find people, many of them bilingual, who would know where and how to find books like that is the J-aircraft.com message board.
