Thank you for the link very much! I visited the site couple of years ago. Especially Birkenau made me go silent. I I couldn't understand how huge this camp is and that made me understand the scale of Nazis process. There were also many survivors with their families at the time I was there and seeing and hearing them telling their stories was something I never forget. I will always remember one of these families who's grandfather told they his story. His grandson noticed that we were also listening and they invited us to listen his story with them. I was honored to shake his hand, but there was nothing I could say to him except I was thankful that he shared part of his story with us.
The artist was himself a prisoner at Auschwitz. I kind of think that his work is more impressive than photos since they reflect his view of his reality. Photographs can't convey the impact on a single individual as well as someone's own artwork. An impressive find.
I totally agree. I found them disturbing and powerful, a true reflection of a nightmare and a reminder we must not allow evil to do this again.
