Guess I did this a little backwards, found this site doing a search on something (can't remember what it was now, must not have been important) and a page popped up asking for help identifying ribbons. Wanted to answer the question so I joined. 1. Your Name: My name is Dave and I go by Hobbs or Hobbsh1, I use Hobbsh1 as usually Hobbs is already taken in other forums. 2. Age: I will be 43 this year, man.... where does the time go 3. Origins: Where am I from?? my Mom , seriously, I was born a US Army brat, my dad served until he was a Sergeant. Lived in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama (the longest, form 4yo to 18 or 19) and California (8 years, US Navy stationed at HC-1 and HS-14), now I reside on a 30 acre farm....no crops other than a hobby garden, and a few animals, my kids are involved in 4-H 4. Specifics: What areas of WWII are you interested in? pretty much all of it, I look at the personal awards that I see veterans wearing and research what the ribbons are and then tend to sit back and wonder what was it really like when they earned them, or I wonder what it would been like to live in the time of the World Wars, or any war prior to Vietnam. 5. Hobbies: Hobbies that I have are reading just about anything, serving in the Civil Air Patrol with my oldest daughter, working on my farm with my wife and kids, doing 3d models with a program called Soliworks. 6. Other: What other time periods are you interested in? Mostly just WWII, like I said above, I've always wondered what it would be like to live in that era. 7. Miscellaneous: nahhh, nothing else really, unless you would like to know that I really like grilled cheese sandwiches,
Hey, Dave...... the grilled cheese sandwich thing really sucked me in! (Ever put sliced tomatoes and a little fresh basil in there before you grill them? I had two for lunch today with a big 'ol glass of cold milk.....oooooo-eeeee.....) ahem...... ah.... Hobbsh1..... welcome to the forums.... dive in, find your area of interest, and start posting!! (....how about ketchup.... ever dip 'em ketchup?....) once again, welcome, Dave -whatever -Lou
Hello Hobbs. Glad to have you aboard. Grilled cheese...with tomato soup. Great winter time comfort food. Look forward to more of your posts.
Biak, don't know about being a pro, but I definitly find the search for ribbon/medal answers a challenge and will try my best to get it right . Well Lou, I have never tried grilled cheese with tomato and basil, but I will now, I know my son will love it, that boy eats tomatoes right off the vine. LRusso, I'll leave the tomato soup to you, not too much of a fan of it, the wife and kids love it though Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I truely hope I can be of benefit here and learn some new things along the way.
