Ida Grinspan, who was deported to the Auschwitz in 1944, wrote a letter about her WW2 experiences to children at a school in Parthenay, France. But when the town's deputy mayor, Michel Birault, learned she was to tell the children it was "gendarmes" (French policemen) who arrested her aged 14, it was censored. Mayor Xavier Argenton said she could only speak to the students if she referred to the police as "men". French media accuse both men of covering up France's collaboration with the Nazis. During the war, French officials helped the SS round up tens of thousands of Jews and sent them to the gas chambers.

It's almost night and day in Europe when looking at this aspect of life, some nations realized what happened during the war and are acknowledge it, honor those victimized, etc. Others simply try to cover it up and deny it.

 

another example of politically correctness. Fortunately these guys are now a minority and the Release of the Film La Rafle clearly shows this dark aspect of history. My own son will go and see this movie at the cinema with his teacher.

This is a case of lets not tell and hide the truth because it will give us a black eye. This is no better then Holocaust deniers.

If she does tell and does not obey by the Ban, what they'll send her to jail, They'll Stop her from teaching? I'm glad the story is out, just goes to show that some still live in denial.

This is luckily a very isolated case however. Former Resistants, and deportees are usually more than welcome at schools and they are certainly not censored.

 

there are some great scenes which were shot at the Vel d'Hyv velodrome and French concentration camps . I recommend this DVD and will buy it too

Looks like a good flick (Jean Reno? Excellent!) and I will be ordering the DVD off Amazon. I do hope the movie deals with the resistance element in France; http://cghs.dadeschools.net/holocaust/french_resistance.htm It is a fact that many in occuppied France fought against the mass insanity in one way or another (Hitler's own intell chief-Canaris-concluded that man was insane as the result of a gassing in the trenches of WWI).

That is correct Jean Reno is a doctor in the film. you can see him on the trailer

Didn't Reno produce the film also? The acting appears to be excellent-and the portrayal of Hitler in the short looks to be spot on (he was a medically unfit, RAGING LUNATIC-and if they could feature his quack doctor injecting him with a witches brew of strychnine and amphetimines the picture would be complete).

To be honest I hav eonly sene the the trailer at this point, but if you say the may is also the filmaker I will have to believe you. And yes there is something about the Resistance, particulary about some of the "Just" (people who saved jews) . I don't know if there are some Maquisards scenes, I would realy have to go and see it (in afew weeks promised)

Good-something about Resisters. It is a fact that not everybody went along with the madness. If there are Maquisard scenes BETTER. Some even had the incredible courage to take arms against the most horrendous system of social control ever devised.
