Hi everyone I am by no means a historian and don't even have a college education. I hated history in high school but became interested when I took my grandfather (67 at the time/WWII vet) to see Pearl Harbor. He and my grandmother flew out while I was stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Papa died this past January 13 at 88. My grandmother who welded ships at Charleston Harbor, SC is still alive and more than not remembers who I am when I visit. Anyway I am happy to be here and look forward to enjoying this site.
Welcome to the forum, Dorr. While there is a great amount of information here, I promise you it's nothing like high school history class. (I know because I'm a retired teacher) We're pretty friendly and understanding, so post away and we'll do our best not to let you get bored.
Hello Dorr, welcome! I like your avatar! I'm new here myself, but have already found it a great place for discussion. Sorry to hear about your Grandfather passing. That generation is fading away (along with my own grandfather) too fast to bear unfortunatey.
Welcome Dorr. I'm new here too. I've been through South Carolina; it's a beautiful place. Looking forward to your contributions!
Howdy Dorr! Whereyat? Im in the great state of Mecklenburg! Spent many a day moored up on Pier November, USS Wainwright, CG28. Was kinda sad when they tore down the old Cooper River bridge, but relieved I wouldn't have to drive over it anymore!
