    Good Evening,

I am planning a 4 day trip to France and are staying in a town called Caen.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me any advice to where and which order to visit the following destinations or think of a good itenary to aid in which order to visit the locations to save money in petrol.

    Pegasus Bridge
    Merville Battery
    Sword Beach
    Arromanches Cliffs
    The Mulberry Harbour
    Bayeux
    Arromanches 360 cinema

I have looked around for tours but they are very expensive and would like to visit the sites myself with my girlfriend

thankyou very much for your help.

    Karl

Hi Karl and welcome to the forum.

If you type the word Normandy in to the forums search box you will will be presented with a number of threads containing the info you seek.

Are you are sailing in to Ouistreham? If so, then be sure to visit Le Grand Bunker which is a stones throw from the port. It's well worth a visit.

Karl, You have made two great decisions, going with your girlfriend anywhere in France instead of a tour and being based in Caen. My work allowed me to explore a good bit of Europe and Normandy is a favorite. Are you going to rent a car, best way to get around but buses are frequent. JP 44's idea of a search for Normandy is great. Buy a Michelin map of the area and plan a route yourself, easy and fun. I would get a Michelin guide as well. WW 2 sites are fun but enjoy Normandy for today too. My children and I , plus my ever forgiving wife , love to explore WW1 and 2 sites and have found small museums and many tanks, both relics and as monuments. Sounds like a great trip.
