Hey guys, I finished a Trumpeter Hornet a year ago and wanted to put on photo etched parts, and now im planning to build a 1/350 Trumpeter North Carolina.
Should i put photo etch on the Hornet even though its done and should i buy photo etch for the North Carolina before i build it?
It would be great for some advice because i kind of need it

You'll find it very hard to integrate photo-etch after completion. I really wouldn't bother.

By all means give it a go for your next build, it can make a great difference & is really satisfying... But brace yourself for a world where a pin can be too clumsy a tool, and the carpet-monster feeds mightily on brass. ;)

I just want to put some railings and gun covers on the Hornet, is there any sets that contain not as many parts as Tom's modelworks?

Oh the tears I have shed over photo-etch, use very, very sparingly to preserve your sanity.

Years back I added PE to quite a number of 1/700 scale ships that I had already completed. In some cases, I also repainted them more accurately. One, a 1/700 USS Enterprise (CV-6) took a 3rd place award at the IPMS/USA Nationals. So, yes, it can be worth doing.

I remember that Enterprise. I would REALLY like to find the space for a work bench, and finish that 1/700 USS Yorktown CV-5 of mine.

Wildcat, this is by far the best advice I've heard on photo etch thus far! I love it, it can really take a model that extra mile as far as realism goes, but it's also a mother to deal with. Photo etch as an after thought is not a very good idea though.

Also, get a little container for yourself, and keep the scraps, as those little border strips can be great for making straps or fenders if you need them.
