Hi all I saw this forum on Internet and thought yep I must join that. A brief scan about seems to indicate a strong and friendly forum with plenty of good threads...great stuff. Im an author, metal detectorist, researcher and archaeologist concerning all things aviation. I organised the World`s first ever full archaeological excavation of a crashed Zeppelin (L48 at Theberton) and have excavated a few and attended many aircraft digs. In the last decade Ive written or contributed to six books with plenty more coming in the future I also write for Britain at War and Treasure Hunting magazines. Basically so long as it normally fits into 1939-1945 era Im fascinated with it. Spend long hours in bramble thickets rooting out twisted bits of airframe and haunting old deserted airfields etc. Currently engaged in writing a county by county series of books concerning aviation history so far Herts and Cambs (by Me) published with Surrey also published. Love helping fellow researchers where possible, as collecting vast piles of info and hoarding it, or making charges for it is not what Im about...that doesnt do anyone any good. Anyway just to say hi...research means that Im not on forums as much as Id like but I always reply to everyone, might just take a while though. Kind regards Julian Evan-Hart
Welcome Julian. That's quite a resume. You're sure to find kindred spirits hereabouts. Gordon (The Historian) will be interested, I'm sure.
Welcome Julian! I'm sure you will be a valuable source! Wow! A crashed Zeppelin excavation. That would be incredibly interesting to me. I got to see the Zeppelin museum in Friedrickhafen when I was 18 and will never forget it.
Thanks all for your kind words. Ulithi if you would like to email me on j.evenhart@ntlworld.com.... please note surname spelling error on email but this email addy is correct....I have no problem with people Emailing me my addy is easy to find all over the Internet anyway.... I will send you the excavation report on L48 we found military buttons from the crew, fabric rings, and no end of artefacts including small sections of geodetic framework. Jules Welcome to the forum, I look forward to your contributions. It is nice to see someone engaged in historical research on a physical level. I am sure your threads will be very much anticipated. Andrew
Welcome Julian, it is good to have you here. Feel free to post any pics or links to your work, even it is not of the period normally discussed here.
