Googling info on a Lee Enfield and stumbled across you folks, looks like a very nice forum. Hopefully I will be able to contribute. I'm a 58 year old construction worker and enjoy (after my family) hunting and fishing and being outside. Of course I live in one of the best places in the world for those activities. I am/was fortunate enough to know many of the "Greatest Generation" and had the pleasure of hearing of their WWII experiences. I realize how lucky I am as many Vets have difficulty sharing with those who have not served. I'm not too sure how many Veterans are here but let me say thank-you to those who are here, no man is more of a patriot than one who signs that blank cheque to their country. Spelling and grammar are not my strong points. KTK I'll try a couple of pictures. A little brain teaser for you. This is a WWII military rifle, can anyone identify it? And the other is my hunting buddy.
Welcome to the forums KTK, looking forward to your contributions. Looks like a Winchester 94 you have there, correct me if I'm mistaken.
Howdy Karma, Arigota for the welcome (how's that for butchering a language)? You are correct it is a model 94 in 30-30. These were used in very limited numbers as I'm sure that you know the Lee Enfield’s, the M1's the Mausers and the Ariskas were the most common main battle rifles. I'll leave the question open for awhile more. KTK
Welcome KTK Always nice to add new blood. Hope you enjoy your time here and looking forward to your contributions. Andrew
Here's the answer to the Model 94 question. Nambu World: Pacific Coast Militia Rangers This unit was formed to thwart the Japanese invasion. Fear of invasion was very real in WWII including large gun emplacements, etc. Including internment camps for the Japanese which I do know if they did because they felt our Japanese citizens were a real threat or it was a good way to steal their stuff and that racism was much more prevalent then. Of course the Japanese never got any closer than the Aleutians where they were repelled by Canadian and American troops, who from what I read did more damage to one another than they did to the Japanese. Thanks for the kind welcomes. KTK
