Very sad news Erich i have known Georg for over 10 years and have met him on many occasions at meetings in Germany , he was one of the two Ritterkreuztrager who recommended me for my Ordentliche Mitglieder membership of the OdR. Luckily he did get all his memoirs into print in the last few years , a very sad loss for the Odr and for me personally =(

    Hey guys,

Very new here, hello one and all!

Right, to get to the point, my Opa was a Hauptmann in the Luftwaffe. His name was Johann (or Johannes) Klaus.
I am searching for his records during the war. I never knew much about him as after the war he left my Oma and also had illegitimate children and not much was spoken about him, now my Oma has passed away and I lost my father before, this vague thread has become even more tenuous.
I know that he flew in Norway and was either a pilot or crew member in a recon float plane, either a He 115 or a Dornier. My Dad had some photo's of him which confirm his rank and that he was based in Norway, but there isn't much more I can deduce from them.
I recently bought a 1/72 scale He 115 and I think it would be brilliant if I can build it as the plane he flew or crewed and put a story behind it.
I found the forum through Google whilst trying to search for information on my Opa.
Thats about all I can say right now. If anyone has any information or can help me in any way I would be very appreciative.
    Regards,

    Cein

That's terrible about Kerscher if true, but I saw the post, and it was from a newcomer. Who knows where he got that information from. It is possible though, since he's in his 90's. That is the state of things I'm afraid, and time waits for no one. We can only hope their stories of bravery live on and continue to be a source of inspiration to others.

Agreed, always send some euros for return postage. As Hans Ekkehard Bob told me, a lot of veterans are in their 90s and need to pay for expensive medication and medical care. Therefore, it is not only polite but I think neccessary to pay at least for return postage.

I received a package today from Karl Heinz Euling. He signed all three of the pics I sent and also included information on his career in the 10th SS Panzer Division. Just incredible!

Isn't that weird that we both got karl heinz euling's reply on the same day? I finally translated what he wrote to me on the photos, its " to adam, in kameradschaftlicher verbundenheit" which means something like comraderly fondness? He also wrote my name as "adolf" on one of the photos instead of "adam". Think he's trying to tell me something? ;) Im glad writing to Walter Fasel worked out for you, greg. He is indeed a generous man.

He is at that. My living room is filling up quickly with pictures. This has been like Christmas this week with so many responses. Going to have to expand to the family room. The wife will be thrilled!!!!.
Another response today, Herr Soren Kam replied and signed both our pictures. Again....WOW!

It was kinda strange that Herr Eulings both came in on the same day but kinda cool also.
