Just arrived a late-war Wehrmacht rucksack. Slightly damaged and incredibly filthy, it is now soaking in a bucket of detergent.

    Bought via Deutsch e-bay.

    How much ?

    5 Euros......;)

You beat me on that one, I paid mine 10 euros, but it's perfectly clean and uncle Addi didn't fart on it. Show us a picture when it's clean and dry.

SS chalice found in the woods recently from the Northern Karelia area. SS Nord material.

It is assumed the LSG is something for a unit shortage L=leicht S=? G=gruppe perhaps

The markings are engraved with a knife.

'L.... Sturm Gruppe'? couldn't find a definite confirmation of that, sorry, but the Sturm Gruppe were usually named after metals and stones etc - Eisner SG, Beton SG etc. so could be one of those - leichter seems possible also.

    Thanks, Martin.

This is one of my Luftwaffe rucksacks, and even though I have treated it on a number of ocassions, the leather is still hard and brittle.

Great goodies gentlemen I particulary like the calice.

A few new goodies from Deutschland:

1 ) a Schlessien badge for the Annaberg Memorial , after the 1920s plebiscit period and worn by German Nationalists who were among the early NSDAP members

    2) part of an (inert) Mg clip found at our local fair for a few euros.

    3) a 1940 dated Heer spoon and fork

    4) and .... a real dried framed Edelweiss from many years ago!

Cheers I'm pretty proud of my Silezia badge. It's still something you can find without paying a fortune because most people don't know what it is.

Finally my cheapo e-bay rucksack is suitable for Forum viewing....

Obviously not quite up to Skipper or Jagdpanther44 standards, it arrived in unbelievably grubby and sad-looking condition (smelly, too !). Plenty of soaking, scrubbing and airing, plus some TLC for the very brittle leatherwork, has made it at least acceptable to look at and examine....

Interesting that it has three outer pockets, a large one in the centre in addition to two side pockets. The flap of the main compartment has the following markings, which I have no idea how to decipher....

Overall quality is good, and I was interested to note that the metal fittings, especially the buttons for the inner pocket, are very similar to those on my Zeltbahn 31....

I always like 'restoring relics' and this has certainly met that criteria....and for 5 Euros, I don't feel too robbed.

It was well worth the wait, Martin, and all for €5.

Ahem! I have just bought another artillery rucksack on eBay. I think this may be turning in to some sort of rucksack fetish for me. ;)
