And a British bottle with leather strap made by Clarke & Co, London, in 1941. It was a first hand attic find, so I had to clean it get rid of the vert de gris.

and finally an original RAF Pilot Log book . It is dated May 1942 but it is empty. A rare item nonetheless, probably left behind in some office drawer ,when the RAF returned home after the war.

Too bad, if it was an accident I would have thought of the Saint André de L'Eure base. I'll pass through that place around Christmas and I know some of the runways are still intact. I would have taken pictures for you.

I did check wikipedia, did not believe there´d be any info. This is what it says there:

"On 3 September 1943, Kurt Knappe was killed over Evreux, France after attacking a formation of B-17's."

Just arrived from my usual Volgograd digger, a rusty Feldgendarme traffic-indicator 'lollipop' disc...the original colours can be clearly discerned.

( I was the only bidder - it can't be worth faking for the price I got it for ! ;) )

Great find Martin, mine arived from there too. It's an aluminium one , so it's in rather good condition. Of course I replaced the wood , but could even recycle the rivets.

Mine has the rivets, too - maybe I'll try the 'wood treatment'......

It's worth it . Nothing ressembles more to a stick than another stick. If you need the exact dimensions, let me know , it would save you time.

Picked up yesterday : a pair of French amno pouches. These are black models as used by the Gendarmes.

Also a rather rare velvet pair of collar tabs for the 17th Regiment du Genie . These were also used by colonial troops, but considering they are velvet I 'm almost certain they were used by a officer.

Note the metal figures which actually cover the same embroided figures. The metal "17" was added when the the embroidied version faded .
