So happy to be here and learn and pick the brains of all you knowledgeable folks! My name is Peggy. I became interested in learning more about WWII because I bought some items at a yard sale. I was trying to research my "finds" and came across this site. I purchased two hand stamps in addition to an album that appears to have been owned by a German officer in the 1930s. I've researched just about as much as I can online and was hoping I could find out more here. I am fascinated by the historical significance of what I've found and feel compelled to find out all I can about these items. I hope my photos will be of interest to some folks here.
Hi Peggy and welcome to the forum. Feel free to post pictures of your finds. We have lots of people with great knowledge of all kinds of militaria. Someone is sure to be able to help.
Hi Peggy, id also like to welcome you to the site and also if you can? please post pictures of the things you have and in the Militaria section as there are quite a few Guys here who can hep you-Moi included ;-)) Take care--Carl.
Thank you Lou and Carl for your welcome messages! I have posted photos of my two hand stamps on the "Information Requests" board. I hope you check them out. When I learn how to scan and post, I'll upload some of the photos from my 1930s-era photo album.
Thanks for all the welcomes! SteveM, shopping at yard sales is a numbers game. You wouldn't believe how many hundreds of yard sales I hit every year. It's always a treasure hunt. I have to stop at 20 yard sales with only baby clothes and Tupperware to find a yard sale with something of interest to me. I love finding old, rusty, distressed items and was attracted to the fake hand stamps on a table. Since I bought those, the person went in their house and brought out the 1930s photo album that had most likely belonged to a German officer. It has been a real adventure researching the contents and learning about the history of WWII. Sometimes you get lucky!
