Im new to the forum. I am very excited to be here. Oh and I have a question. I have a nazi eagle from ww2 given to me by my friend. It was supposedly off the luftwaffe headquarters, like on a door. the back has holders which are damaged from its removal. Where should I put the pics. Can you guys tell me more about it and its value?
Hi Istnick, Welcome and be patient. After you've posted a few comments (forum policy I believe), you'll be able to upload photo's and believe me if you have something like you described you'll get plenty of replies. Remember this isn't a 'chat room' and with over 300,000 things to read it takes time to get noticed. Again welcome to the WW2f site and I look forward to seeing that picture!
hey istnick, Welcome to the forum... Why don't you start off by telling us a little about yourself. Enjoy the forum.
Hello, sorry if I came off impatient but I was excited haha. well Im i grew up with guns and knives. We lost our house and lived in trailers. basically to date poor but that isnt a barrier. So ive had an alchy parent and so have seen many angles of life. had a military familiy. I am a history freak, mainly roman, medieval, American revolution, civil war and ww2. I am interested in ww1 but dont know too much. Thats me...haha So far the antiques from ww2 I have is my grandpas full ww2 navy uniform, a book. And that nazi eagle. my friend is helping me to get stuff. Anything else about me or what Im interested wanted? Im a bit long wided ha.
Patience Grasshopper, this forum spans most all time zones. You need to give any question 24-72 hours for answers, sometime more. If the member is over 13, age does not matter and as long the members (called Rogues) conduct themselves in an adult-like manner, their input is welcome.
I'll add that I'm 17 then. And yeah I'll wait. Not too used to forums. I can't wait to upload those pictures.
I do what I can hahaha. Being in such a small school Im just about the only ww2 nut, so I needed a place to talk about it.
Well this is the place to talk about WW2, and you'll find that it's one of the best WW2 forums on the net. Study the other forums here, see what interests you, and do some reading on the older threads, see how posts and questions are structured. And stay away from the "what if" forum for awhile if you can. Strange stuff in there. Welcome aboard, enjoy yourself here, and we are looking forward to what you can add.
I will suggest, that you read through the forum heavily to get a feel for the level of discussion. It will make your stay here much more pleasant.
Istnick, See I told ya' Now where is that photo? Oh and "excited" is good. Do you have much information on your Grandfather? If you can put up a picture of his uniform or any patches/insignia, there are folks here who will probably be able to fill in the blanks you may have.
Ok Biak. The pictures are in my album. I have the eagle and the hat. I know NOTHING about the eagle really. Just where it supposedly from.
My camera is a piece of trash I'll make a youtube video. Link: http://www.youtube.com/user/Iroamwhereever#p/u/0/m0G0fgC4OQ8 Thats the eagle
I'm no expert on Luftwaffe items, but your eagle looks more like a pin to be worn than something that hung on a door. It seems too small for anything else. I'll leave further information to those more knowledgeable. If possible, can you scan and post pictures of your grandfather's uniform? If so, we might be able to give you more information about his service, rank, and what ship he might have served on. Nice to have you here. Good luck in your quest.
Thank you. Yeah I thought it was small too, almost like part of a uniform or hat maybe. The uniform is at my grandmas, we are gonna get it next time I'm there. I have his hat at my house now though. we were scared to moved the uniform when we were moving.
Don't ya' just hate that! I found this site that has something that is close. NAZI medals & badges Page 4 About half way down the page is an Eagle pin attached to what looks like a belt buckle. It looks like the two 'posts' on the back of yours is for clips to hold it on a hat or jacket like LRusso said. Very interesting pin none the less. I'm sure someone on here will come along and identify it for you.
