My name is Vincent L. I am a survivor of the sinking of the Lexington on 8 May 1942 in the Battle of the Coral Sea. - Later I served as a Drill Instructor at the Recruit Depot in San Diego - Later I served with the 16th Defense Bn., Ist AAA Bn., & 7th AAA Bn. in the South Pacific. - At the end of WW II I was in the Navy V-12 Unit at the University of Southern California - I would like to hear from anyone who might have served with me or is interested in any units I served in.

Welcome Mr. Anderson. Good to have you here. We are very interested in hearing what you have to say and please feel free to offer anything you would like. We do have a USS Franklin (CV-13) survivor, but that good sailor posts only spairingly. Another Marine here is Sterling Mace, of the First Marine Division.

    Welcome
I am also fairly new here and have had only wonderful experiences. My grandpa and great uncle served in WWII in the infantry. I would love to hear anything you feel like sharing. I have read several books about the great ships loaned to me by a friend. The names may not be exact, but one was "The Last Stand of the Tin Can Soldiers" and the other was about the USS Indianapolis. Please share anything you can. Thank you

    Krystal

LexingtonCV2 - My dad was in the 7th AAA (AW) attached to the 77th infantry division. Is this the 7th AAA that you were in? If so, I would be interested in sharing more information with you.

My grandfather also served in the Pacific Theater, though with the U.S. Army, and he is one of the reasons I became interested in WWII. Thank you for your service and welcome to the forum.

My great uncle was assigned to the Marine Detachment of the USS Yorktown (CV-5).

He later joined Kilo Company 3rd Bn 5th Marines and served with them from May 10th 1943 until mid 1945 after the Okinawa battle.
