Since we had a marathon of movies about the Korean War on TCM last week, I got to pondering something and that is, what kind of movie would I like to be made about the Korean War-as well as which Korean War war movies would I like to see remade? OK, here goes it. Movies about the Korean War I would like to see made are: 1) A movie made about the fight for and retreat from-the Frozen Chosin. 2) A movie made depicting Heartbreak Ridge. 3) Movies made about other important battles of the Korean War. I would like to see in these-the close cooperation we had with various Allies who fought there as well-like the Greeks, The British and UK, etc. 4) I would like to see a good one made about the """""OPeace Talks""""" held at Panmunjon (SP?) 5) Movies made depicting Inchon. 6) Movies dealing with the early days of the war as well as the Pusan Perimeter. 7) Movies made that would depict those """unseen""" Russians who did fight against us there. 8) Movies made that depict Chinese and Russians and their tortures of American and Allied PWs. 9) Movies made that depict the stories of our guys who won the Medal of Honor-Victoria Cross etc. Movies I would like to see remade include: 1) Prisoner of War. 2) Target Zero. 3) The Hunters. 4) Fixed Bayonets. 5) All the Young Men. 6) Time Limit. 7) The Glory Brigade. 8) Sergeant Ryker. Not that any of these could be improved on IMO. Anyone here have any they would like to share? What have I missed? I don't really care to see another movie about M*A*S*H hospitals as such but wouldnt mind something good about a Med unit closer to the front like a Battalion aid atation and such.
Hows about this for another possible? one or more movies done about the few traitorous Americans who defected to North Korea. I find that a bit fascinating-though stomach-wrenching at the sametime.
I dont think I would really care about seeing any of the Korean War movies remade as much as I would like to see something new about the war. And by 'new' I dont mean some revisionist item like 'MASH'.
found this one carl, I have not heard of it, but could be interesting... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386064/ short trailer, too..
Something about TF Smith would be cool, or a remake of The Steel Helmet (although it'd be damn hard to remake a Sam Fuller flick, unless another combat vet was doing it). Would also like to have a scene in a movie depicting a Chinese nighttime attack (the "human wave" assaults), sort of like the D-Day scene in Private Ryan, crossed with the final battle scene in Platoon.
I would be heavily interested in seeing a movie through the eyes of a DPRK conscript, of the youth variety which we commonplace during the final months. I would also like to see an Interview/Flashback style film (fiction or not) about a citizen of Seoul and their experience during the occupation and reoccupation by the North.
Nice additions, keep them coming if possible? I wouldnt mind seeing at least one made depicting a pilot shot down behind enemy lines and making his escape back to the South. Something ala The Hunters-but not necessarily The Hunters. Something more modern. I wouldnt mind seeing something made about the Tree incident, as well as something about North Korean infiltraitors-filtering into South Korea.
