Was talking with my grandfather the other day ( WW II Navy Seabee Vet) on the phone. He said his mothers, brother ( born 1905 Tennessee) was a WWII Vet. I neber knew this. He was living around Marion, Ohio and enlisted in Ohio 1942. Grandad said he was a glider pilot and "thought" he was in the ETO. His name was Ernest L. Chapman and went by "Jack" to family and friends. I have his enlistment record from ancestry.com, but am trying to find where he was. I also have his obit from 1975, it just states he was a WW II Vet. I know glider pilots flew in the ETO, Luzon and CBI. Not having any luck on the web. Was hoping someone on here has some possible sources. I will fill out the form 180 for his records, but hate waiting on the goverment to get me the records. Thanks for the help in advance! Boozie
You're welcome! A great bunch of guys. George Theis had an interesting experience during Op Varsity, which he shared with me for 'The Last Drop'. Steve W.
