hey there. i know this probably should be in the Information requests part of the forum, but it as ZIP to do with WWII...so i will just post it here, but, if you moderators or whoever moves posts think it should go there, feel free to move it.

There is this movie called "the Boondock Saints'. its about these two brothers who kill criminals for there, well, crimes (if they are bad enough). but, everytime before they kill them, they say a prayer.

that is the prayer above, but im looking for the translation of the last line...ive went to the 'bing translator' but ive got nothing...help?

It's Latin for the Catholic Sign of the Cross. "In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit".

Boondock Saints is quite an old movie - I think it came out in the 90's? Didn't do too well in theatres for some reason, but is a Cult Classic these day. "I'll see you on the Flip Side" (love Rocco). Boondack Saints 2: All Saints Day FINALLY came out in theatres this year (or end of last?) but I never managed to see it.

Willem Defoes performance in the first one is PHENOMENAL.

A movie that came out in the 90s in NOT "quite an old movie" by any stretch of the imagination or description, except to young children or someone who doesn't get out to the movies very often. From the 20s or 30s yes, from the 90s....NO.

    Just my opinion of course.

We're not debating what qualifies as an 'old movie'. I was not calling it an Oldie, I was calling it an Old - its over 10 years old which certainly qualifies it as Old. Thats a whole generation of people born after it was released who are too young to see it.

Oh, Netdlix - good idea! I'll add it to my que as its certainly one I need to see, though I heard it is not nearly as great as the first one.

Mussolini, I liked the 2nd one almost better then the first. they drop the 'F' bomb a whole lotta times, but theyve still got that ol' rope from the first movie :D

Just as a point of interest, "...see you on the flip side" is an old CB term we OTR truckers used to use from the late sixties on. It meant "I'll catch you when we turn around".

That means that between drivers we would talk to each other when we met going the other directions. That had more to do with route drivers than independents who probably went anywhere next.

If that show (which I've never seen BTW), used it they extrapolated it into something else than what it meant. I believe you can still catch that phrase on the original Smokey and the Bandit movies with Burt R. and Jackie Gleason.

Rocco, the guy who says it, says it on the phone to the Brothers before he hangs up, to go kill some Italian Mobsters. In his case, I think it meant 'See you in Heaven/Hell' as he didn't expect to live through it.

I'll catch you on the flipside - thats the direct quote.

Here is the youtube video of it (NSFW - language and violence) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwJydyRhxfA

I loved both of them Saints movies. I think the 2nd one could have been a touch better but they definitely leave it open for a part 3...

Fine, it's old. I don't think so. But if everyone agrees that it is, then it must be.

And I seldom go see movies at the theatre as well. I think the last one I saw was "Valkyrie", or "Letters From Iwo Jima", whichever came out last. And I usually go during the week and at the last showing to avoid the nitwits running around. Jeez, I sound like Carl now....

old is not the issue here , when I see the movie "The Thing" ,remake with Kurt Russel 1982 , and I take a look at hmmm "I am legend " than I can say the thing is a classic , and I am legend is a good movie if you don't mind the digital zombies, digital deer and many other digital effects ; classic meaning it is an old movie but it was made like yesterday , another example is "the godfather"

Speaking of Kurt Russel (one of my favorite actors from the 80s and 90s-"Escape from New York" rules!!!), I heard a travesty the other day. I don't know if you would call it a cult classic as much as a "chick flick", but I learned they are going to remake "Overboard". Instead of Goldie Hawn, it's going to be Jenifer Lopez. Uuugghh!!!

Why would you do this to a great movie? These remakes are killing Hollywood. I'm glad I just paid a dollar to see "A Nightmare on Elm Street" this year!

Get a load of this, the Coen Brothers remade "True Grit" and it is scheduled for release this Christmas. Jeff Bridges plays Rooster Cogburn, Matt Damon plays LeBoeuf, Barry Pepper plays Ned Pepper, and some new-comer young girl named Hailee Steinfield plays Mattie Ross. It is supposed to be more from Mattie Ross's viewpoint than anyone else's according to imdb.com. I don't know about this. To me, it's sacrilege. The original "True Grit" is a classic. It's like remaking "Gone With the Wind" or "Casablanca". Some things are better left alone, like the original "Boondock Saints". No sequal needed. Just watch it again.

Agreed. However, I have to admit, in my most primitive, long ago past teenage mindset, I want to see the new "Expendables" comming out. What a cast!!!! Stallone, Statham, Rourke, Li, Willis.....Wow!
