Helmut Steffen and 5.(F)/AufklGrp 122

Wonder if anyone can tell how he got his Knight´s Cross/biography?

Helmut Steffen was in the rang of a Staff Sergeant (german airforce) when he got the "Ritterkreuz" on 5th of december 1943. He died in 2006.

The 5. AufklGrp was based during the fights on the eastern front in Gosstkino from 12.41 till 12.43. So also at the time when Steffen got his "Ritterkreuz". The 5. AufKlGrp. used mainly JU 88 machines (different types) and for a short period a Bf 109. That´s all I can say about the unit he´s fighting for when he received the "Ritterkreuz".
