I'm sort of surprised that the 'Bat Bombs" didn't get in there.

US Military and Germans also used dogbombs. That was cruel, but in that time, the dog had a whole different role in society. More of a property guard, than a friend.

Didn't we also have a thread on weapons using sound waves? I came across a book on these weird things at the bookstore, but didn't feel it was worth investing in.

yep.. those are some real bizarre and dumb weapons. Loved the flying jeep. nice concept (on paper that is), that's one good way to get out of a sticky situation...or a traffic jam :)

bomber bats and anti tank dogs... bad idea!!

The Panjandrum was another weird weapon of WW2. Basically it was a rocket propelled giant wheel with explosives that would roll it's way to into the beaches of Normandy. Needless to say, it was never used in combat.

That Skinner plan was one of the first of the original five in the article.

I was going to mention these bizzaro weapon "wheels" myself, I loved the YouTube shot that focused on one of them chasing down a dog that had wandered onto the "test area". Too weird.

Reminded me (for some reason) of those "rocket powered backpacks" that guys strapped on and tried to use them on skates and ice to set a "new speed record". One of those shows a fella falling down, spinning around on the ice, and setting his pants on fire.

    Hi Suzie,

this is a real great one! I have some of the test reports and they are funny to read. One Captain stated:" Its only value is to entertain the Spa guests!":D
