    Hello everyone
    Once im pleased to be in the company of all the great collectors this site offers :D i Thank you all for your knowledge.
    Well i have just purchased a fixed bail front seam m1 helmet my first :)
    It has 1 very slight stress crack and apart from that is in tip top condition, please look at my pics and please give opinions on it i paid £70

    Hi,
    sounds like about right money although not completely sure how the crack would affect value - similar without crack seems to be closer to £100-110 on average, although cheaper on US market (approx $-£ equal). The site experts will give you a better appraisal I'm sure.

    hello dean, if I have a concern, it's the paintwork? is that cork or sand?

    Well i believit to be cork what concerns do u have sniper ?

    cork would make sense, and possible re-issue painted..paint looks too clean? overall..

    Out of curiosity (since I know next to nothing about vintage WWII helmets), what purpose did the cork/sand serve?

    Probably a korean re paint, does that affect price at all ? Its definatly been period done i believe either that or it was a non issued helmet and has been stored well ?

    helmet is fine, just sometimes? pics dont show true paintwork..

    I believbe it was to stop the glare of the helmet in the sun. It acted as a camo

    So the £70 is a good price also do u believe these will go up in price in the future

    price is good dean, even if it did see action in korea, makes no difference to value..

    Also i have just been offered an original usmc p44 camo jacket, the price is around £400 he said, im waitin on the pics from the seller
    Are they that valuable at the moment ?

    It looks like re-painted but its a nice helmet. The value, if it is WWII will increase, but don´t know how much.

    Well its a fixed bale so issued 1943 - 45
