While researching the Arterburn side of my family I came across the Webster County Nebraska Museum(the Arterburn's migrated to Blue Hill, Webster County, NE in 1890.) The description posted listed item's from families living in Webster County. So I contacted them not expecting to find much. To my surprise a member of the Arterburn family had made a donation to the museum in 1978.

After I saw that response, I checked my family tree and found out Lawrence is the son of Clara and Frank Arterburn. Frank is the Brother of Harrison Arterburn My great grandfather. Lawrence makes #4, Four Arterburn's who served during WWII. My grandfather Delbert, His brother Clarence, Their cousin Lawrence, And an uncle Lloyd. Luckily they all came home.

When I first read the response I assumed the picture they spoke of was of Lawrence. But after rereading it I discovered the picture that was donated is of the 5th regiment N.N.G. camp - Crete, Nebraska August 1915. Lawrence was born in 1917.

I requested a photo of the uniform so I could see the patches/pins. They said they could do that, But it would not be till the beginning of the year cause the uniform is in storage.

I don't really have a question I'm just excited about this find. And wanted to share.

What a long shot. I would be excited too. I had both grandfathers, three great Uncles and one Cousin-so-many-times removed, but just am getting started, so grandpa's come first, but I would love to eventually follow each of their journeys.

I'm with ya on that, I hope to eventually trace all there steps to the best of my ability. It may take some serious work but it will be totally worth it.

Josh, I share your excitement about this recent find. It's always gratifying to put another piece in the puzzle. In re-reading many of your earlier posts, I must say I am amazed at how much you have discovered in your time around here. Thanks for bringing us along on the journey.

Thanks! The gratitude is all mine.

Your right, I have learned allot here. When I first signed up I knew virtually nothing about my grandfather's time in the military. But with the help of this wonderful site and all its generous member's. I've learned more then I ever imagined I would have. Learning all I have, Has given me a new respect for not only my grandpa but everyone who has served this country.

I found another to add to the list this time on my dads mothers side her maiden name is Einspahr

    Pfc Amandus E Einspahr (1919 - 1944) - 75th Infantry Division 290th Regiment Company K - KIA, December 24, 1944 in Belgium

75th Infantry Division: Ardennes ... - Google Books

His father is the son of my grandmothers great great grandfather Hans Friedrich Einspahr. Hopefully that makes sense.

Yeah I've been a member of FindAGrave for a few months now its a great site for genealogy. And the members are very polite and helpful.

I have been adding info and pics to some of my family member's memorials.

    Delbert Edmund Arterburn (1922 - 1999) - Find A Grave Memorial

    Harrison Edward "Jerry" Arterburn (1888 - 1983) - Find A Grave Memorial

    Clarence E. Arterburn (1916 - 1982) - Find A Grave Memorial

Thanks for pointing it out tho. I'm gonna contact the creator of the memorial and have them add his division and regiment. For now thats all I know about him.

I seen the combat diary before, However I had not seen the library thing, Thank you very much for that link. I never imagined I would be able to see a picture of him. The clipping may shed some light on the events surrounding his death.
