Jewish doctor refuses to operate on Nazi patient - The Local

Anyone have more info on this story? Specifically, why he had a tattoo?

Edit: Added a bit more to the quote in case there is any confusion over generations.

Would he walk out on a Muslim patient? Or a Catholic patient? How about an athiest patient? The good doctor should move his practice to Israel if he is going to pick and choose his patients like that. Or maybe Hollywood, either one.

A thought came to me, what if it was for the patients safety more so than the doctor's beliefs? If the doctor is clouded by this views for example, something could have gone wrong during the operation as a result.

A surgeon whose skill can be affected by emotion in that way is unlikely to keep his licence. Also he couldn't claim he had the patient's best interests at heart, because he doesn't.

what would happen if surgeons could refuse to operate on a black patient or a wiccan or a jesuit etc. just because they think their own views might affect the success of the operation?

surgeons get paid so well partly because they have to put personal feelings aside.

Maybe he could get a meat cutters job in a supermarket. No, he would get fired because he wouldn't want to work with the pork. The man needs another line of work.

Mehar, if something like that rattles him, he needs to find gameful employment elsewhere.

Yeah after all those Nazi doctors didn't have any problem working on Jews.

That has nothing to do with it ktk. This is a modern day situation. The man is a trained doctor, and according to his hippicratic oath he is bound to treat those in his care. Yes, his patient was a retard with a swastika tatoo, had nothing to do with the horrors of the holacaust. That would be like me, a policeman refusing assistance someone because they were German, Japanese, Italian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Iraqi, Afghani or Yankee. Not going to happen. That doctor needs to find another job, or move his practice where there only Jewish patients will come to his office or hospital.

At first I thought it would have been the kind you would see on the Wehrmacht uniform where the Swastika but makes up a small part of the overall design. But this is something you would expect to see hanging in the Reichstag!

This seems to be the original post,

Hakenkreuz-Tattoo: Arzt aus Paderborn verweigert OP - News - Bild.de

It's even less detailed than those that picked it up later on...

Hope this idiot loses his practice for this, that is not the behavior that a doctor should exercise and have a story written about it at that. It seems like a lot more of that "obligated to be offended" crap that everybody enjoys using.

You may not agree with the doc, but you could at least understand his motivation . Maybe his familly was killed by the Nazis. The patient was probably operated by another surgeon and no need to call him names. Thread closed. :pzp:
