Turkishwolf - Great to have you on the forum. A little off topic, but in the Korean War, when Major General John Coulter, aka "Nervous John" saw a brigade of Turkish troops fighting under the UN banner, he thought they looked so intimidating and truculent that he ordered the men in his division to grow beards and long moustaches like theirs. ("The Coldest Winter by David Halberstam.)

Hi Turkishwolf, welcome to the site and, ive been reading a book called: Brandenburg Commandoes written by: Franz Kurowski. The book tells of some things about the German Intelligence Branch know as the Abwehr-having set up cells of Agents in your Country as well as all over the middle east, Europe etc. Apparently some men from the Brandenburg units served in the country at one point or another.

Yes Turkish troops fighted in Korea just for joining to NATO.
Coz they thought that if we fight there against to north korea with our allies then they can accept us as a new nato member.
    And it happend.
I know so interesting details about that war.

Welcome to the forum turkishwolf. As others have mentioned, it will be good to see another perspective on history. I am also interested in the Ottoman Empire, concerning the late period leading up to WW1, and to the founding of the Turkish Republic. Looking forward to your posts in the Military History section as well.

I know of some of Turkeys help to the Germans in WWI. Galipoli & Beersheeba come to mind ;-)) The Turks had some really tough Soldiers. I knew all too little of their service in Korea during the Korean War.

True but anyway we were ally with German Empire in ww1.
Helped to each other and fighted together in every front. Not just in Gallipoli and Beersheeba.
Yes we had tough soldiers coz fighting and becoming soldier are not so difficult things for Turkish people. If you look at to Turkish Antique history, You can notice that. Everybody were soldiers :)
In Korea war one Turkish Brigade served.5090 soldiers. 741 killed,2147 wounded, 234 prisoner of war and 175 missing.
So Nato has accepted us as a new member :)

Thank you for the great info which is more than I knew just yesterday about the Turkish involvement in Korea. My Father was in WWII and in Korea and I remember he mentioned meeting some Turkish Soldiers there or either on leave in Japan? I dont remember what he said about them but I know he was impressed with whom he met ;-))

    Thank you.
Everybody says same things about Turkish Army.
    Even our old enemies.
Coz no war crime, no raping, no civilian killing, no cheating in our all wars.
They just fighted as honourable soldiers.
    In Korea, Europe, Asia.
    Everywhere :)

    Hello there,
Sorry for another brief hijacking, but I've recently been looking for pictures of the AEC Gun Carrier (or 'Deacon') in Turkish service, with no luck. (The UK sold them all off to the Turkish Army.)
    WarWheels.Net-AEC Mark II Index

I don't suppose I could ask if you've ever seen any on your own language sites?

    Cheers, and welcome aboard,
    ~Adam.

    I know somethings about it.
In 1939 Turkey bought 16 Vickers 6 ton tanks
In 1940 Uk gaved to turkey 16 Light Tank Mark vib
In 1942 Uk gaved to Turkey 22 valentine tanks and 1945 100 valentine tanks
In 1943 Uk gaved to Turkey 48 bishops tanks

as you seen that this information just about between Uk and Turkey. And sorry this information just about tanks.
I have heard somethings before about that AEC Gun Carrier but really not much and nothing about it in internet.
Maybe i have heard when i was an university student. :)
