Hello, all. I'm in Canada born in the post-war years, and am a WWII nerd. I'm just finishing up Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. I've downloaded Mein Kampf as it's next on my list. I found this site while doing a google search for some information I was looking for. The user name is because I'm a certified financial planner. I've never been to Europe other than many hours spent in Heathrow, but hope to get there before long. We're actually talking about doing a European river cruise and I'd love to see the sights of those beautiful countries. I look forward to looking around this forum when I have some time (I'm at work now). Cheers, all.

Welcome to the forum, MoneyGuy. Be prepared to be thoroughly bored and confused with Mein Kampf. Most of it makes little sense, but can be informative in hindsight. Let us know more about your interests, you're sure to find others who share them.

Welcome to the forum MoneyGuy. Let me echo Lou, you may need some No-Doze for Kampf. Still if your interests are WWII it is a book anyone should try to read....ONCE!

Welcome aboard sir! I've had more fun at the dentist than reading Mein Krap! But as Lou stated, it does give you an insight!

BTW, if you have not read it, Albert Speer's book "Inside The Third Reich" is a great read! It really brings you into Hitler's everyday life.

I'll check it out for sure because I love WWII stuff.

I don't intend to lurk, as I think it's defined anyway. Lurking = reading without posting. I intend to be an active participant.

As I have discovered, don't limit yourself to the war in Europe. The PTO is fascinating in it's own right, and equally compelling.

As a side note, and to add to your reading, check out Operation Mincemeat by Ben McIntyre. It's an interesting read about the plan to deceive the Germans about the Allied invasion of Sicily.

Welcome! (By the way don't do the river cruise unless you are relatively immobile as the schedule is highly regimented on most cruises and they are typically targeted towards those of us with more than a few years under our belt.

Sorry, this doesn't convince me, and I'm very mobile. Cruising Europe looks so interesting.
