I´m trying to find out more about my father in law. All we know is that he fled to England from Poland and joined the army. He never talked about that time before he passed away except that he at one time saw his friend´s hair turning white when a bomb exploded close to them. All the best!
QT, at this point I have no info for you, but please try not to post the same thing in more than one area. It tends to scatter the replies and makes it harder to follow the discussion. I removed the other thread so all responses will be found together. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.
Thank you! I was trying to see if I could move my question but could not figure out how. That´s why I posted it here aswell. Thank you for fixing the problem!
If possible, posting the picture here might help some of our members direct you properly. If you have difficulties posting the pics, please feel free to let me know and I'll see if I can help you.
The link works. Which one is your father-in-law? Maybe one of our British Rogues can tell more from the uniform.
My father-in-law (thanks for helping "Swedish Inga" with the spelling ) is the man to the right standing up. I sure hope for some leeds!
I've done some looking for you, but have not found anything to help you. I'll try to come up with some other ideas for searches online. I did just find this as a hint for finding records for Polish soldiers who served with the British Force - you might want to try writing to them to see if they have a record: Poland Centralne Archiwum Wojskowe [www.caw.wp.mil.pl/] (Available in Polish only) For Polish soldiers who served with the British Forces: The Ministry of Defense Army Records Center, Polish Section Bourne Avenue Hayes Middlesex, England UA3 1RF Phone 0181 573 3831 Fax 0181 569 2751
Thank you so much! That looks really promising. I will ask my husband to contact them, in Polish. Best wishes!
Polish for the polish site, but for the Polish soldier in the British Army you could probably contact the British site in Middlesex using English. Good Luck!
