As something to do and to satisfy my own curiosity i decided to take a quick poll of the regulars on this forum...to ascertain who was the most "valubale" member...(Who cares right?) Valuable not only in terms of information but general entertainment...the only way to do this with any accuracy is to divide posts by the number of salutes...For people with 200 or more posts. My calculations were quickly done so please forgive errors and this wasn't exhaustive, just the people who came to mind, so sorry big time if i left you out, its not personal.

Gray Beard - 8! (thats eight posts per salute)
    Skipper - 14.9
    Slipdigit - 10.6
    Ulithi - 7.7!
    Biak - 8.5!
    CAC - 12.7
    LukeDrifter - 9.1
    Syscom3 - 14.7
    Belasar - 11
    Gebirgsjaeger - 19.6
    C.Evans - 37.2 (doesn't seem right!)
    Texon66 - 5.6!!
    Brndirt1 - 6.7!
    A-58 - 13.2
    Spartanroller - 20.8
    Victor Gomez - 10
    FormerJughead - 6.5!
    Historian - 19.1
    Poppy - 16.9
    Sunny - 7.6

Mr Sterling Mace only has 71 posts with 31 salutes giving an average of a salute every two posts - Not surprising really is it?

Trust a Texon to be sitting on top of the heap...!
probably shouldn't have done it...i'm way down the list!!
Anyone under 10 deserves a place at this table...With Mr Mace at the top of the table.

Heh heh, thank you but, its also that I post much more than most so if I were posting lots less, the pole position would be slightly different ;-))

CAC I need you to come to work with me tomorrow night and figure out why 17 stockers can't work 60 pallets. I would do the math myself but I'm too busy threatening jobs and glaring menacingly.

You must have been bored to volunteer all that math work. Only problem I see is that the salute function hasn't been around as long as some of the names on your list. The reason Carl's numbers are so high is that he had made some 18000 posts before receiving his first salute.

Shooting paintballs is more effective than glaring menacingly.

Wait, I was told there wouldn't be any math skills required. Long division was never my strong suit.

Your figures do not include the fact that salutes were introduced only in 2009, so members who joined in 2001, 2001 etc... are in a clear disavantage. the true average would be you some equation but started on the day salutes were started. This is why Carl's average is 37. If you take his 673 salutes compared with his 5000 recent postings (that is about the number of posts he made since 2009). You will in fact get an average of about 13,5 .

It's still a funny thought. You could also make statistics while compared given and received salutes or the highest number of salutes, or who got the most and gave the less etc.... but if you really need something to do I have a great lawn to mow as well . ;)

If I could get away with a cattle prod it'd be even better. I am working a stupid shift for the next few weeks (4pm-4am) so I can work with all three shifts to see where the "break down" is. I think I found it. Now if I could find a dozen people in this town that would rather work than collect government assistance I think I would be okay...

I just want to say, I salute you ALL, but I'm only going to do it verbally so as not to throw off all of the careful calculations above.

How about we use this thread as a chance to say what threads we would like to see to relieve the boredom?

I'm thinking about starting another specialised armour thread, for instance, something like the amphibious armour and APC ones i did a while back, but I'm not sure what subject to hit. Current idea I'm favouring is either chassis that have been modified into endless variants, or armoured engineer vehicles and their equipment, or armoured trains and their associated vehicles, but I'm not sure yet what people might find interesting. I know some subjects have been touched on before or even done to death, but we have a shortage of new stuff and discussion to keep things flowing at the moment.

Also if people would like threads started about something, but don't feel they have the wherewithal to start one, post your ideas here and maybe those with a knowledge in those areas might get motivated?

Personally, I'd love to see what people want to discuss that isn't being at the moment, even if it has been done before, as a forum like this needs more discussion. :)

please post your ideas/requests/suggestions and I'm sure we'll all see what we can do :)

You aint heard nothin yet. If we ever get a chance to talk by phone or in person? well-just ask Paul as we did. I got to kid him about his part English/Scottish accent and kid myself about my Texan Drawl ;-))

Besides, they wouldnt want a Texan to show them how to properly cook BBQ :lol:
