My daughter sent me this. It describes my feelings pretty well. "I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." --Martin Luther King, Jr
The BBC are reporting that Bin Laden actually used his WIFE as a 'human shield'.....what a coward! All sorts of difficult questions have been raised about exactly what knowledge the Pakistani government/military possessed regarding the presence of Osama in their country. Afghani authorities are calling on militant elements to "Learn from the fate of OBL and lay down your weapons now."
Hi Jeff, heh heh, funny you should mention that because, that was almost exactly what I said in my original post before I edited it. I didnt want to seem like the only one here with that exact sentiment ;-))
Ive seen the pix and Ray I think was the one who posted it under the osama death thread on histomil. The pix on the left is the death pix, the one on the right is the living death pix. Personally, I think the pix on the left shwoing the bullethole in its forehead-made it look much much better than when it was alive.
though I would love to propose Lou and his daughters thoughts, sin has taken over the world and with that, death. bin was offered to surrender, he refused and suffered the consequences
Heh. Thought this was appropriate: YouTube - Hitler reacts to the news that Osama bin Laden was killed
I personally think America is making an error in celebrating this man's death like we had won a hockey game at the Olympics or something, dancing in the streets and waving the Stars and Stripes. Remember how angered we were when news shots showed anti-American demonstrations on the tube with radical Muslims dancing in the street after the towers fell. This may well be counter-productive.
I have also seen that the courier was first identified at three different camps, so it is up in the air to my mind. Torture usually gathers what the interrogating team wants to hear, not what is actually fact. I've seen reports that the courier was i.d.ed in Eastern Europe CIA camps, at Gitmo, and even one in Egypt. I don't really care where the information came from, or how it was obtained, I was simply pointing out that torture rarely reveals a "truth". Just as a "fun" list, here is the bin Laden hunt "by the numbers". Goto: The Hunt for Bin Laden, in Numbers | Mother Jones I got a kick out of the last entry. One dog.
I could say it takes a dog to catch a dog, but comparing OBL to a dog would be insulting to dogs everywhere.
and it appears the thread has been on long enough time to move gentlemen, the guy is popped and is learning to swim, let it be, lets talk about something more interesting like sex
