Nice site! I don't speak or write a bit of german, but I can make out a bit.

And the site has a foto gallery of the Juterbog battalion. A while back, I picked up a book- The German Sturmgeshutz in World War 2, A Photo Chronicle, Schiffer, ISBN 0-7643-0693-6- pretty interesting for AFV people- although I think the translation may be a bit lacking? But- it has a some photos from the artillery training school and range at Juterbog- including an impressive on taken from an allied plane flying over. Impressive stuff...

Any more info on Juterbog? Sources?

arm yourselves with a good English/German dictionary and you'll get through it. there are plenty of pics of machines, and personell, uniforms, [IMG] and DK award winners, links, history on the Abteilungs and Brigaden and other tasty tidbits ofr everyone's enjoyment and ah........yes the abzeichen (wappen or unit markings) which are an added bonus. The French site I posted last year was ok but this one is far more in-depth.
Take your time with it and you will understand enough of the material then go buy the Sturmgeschütze vor! by JJF pubs which will help and some of the private unit histories on several of the Stug Abt/Brigades and then you will be set.

Oh yes a very important one by the way. Jüterbog-Damm, and another area as well as a secondary field for emergencies and hiding special not too be seen a/c. The primary one I mentioned was used by Bf 109G gruppen III./JG 300 and while 9,11 and 12th flew day missions against US heavies, 10th staffel mates hid out to go to sleep although their bunker was too close to the hangar as vets we have interviewd stated. The "Black men" would pound, drill, soder and what ever which was a constant nuiscance to the sleepy pilots. Only after the end of November 44 did 10./JG 300 which became the basis for II./NJG 11 did a new 10th staffel be formed and flew missions at the end of December 44 during the day. II./NJG 11 was placed on the far side of the field close to the trees for camo purposes and a little more privacy from the day time boyz.......anyway I am off topic, so excuse this, and this will be explained in more detail in our book......

It's a great site and I printed out his list of RKT recipients. I'm going to check his info with mine to see if it matches--so i'll know i'm correct. :D

I also want to print out his list of DKiGs too but--that would cost about $7.00 in paper here at the library.

It may be worth it though...... ? [IMG]

Carl I wonder if U would be interested in the huge Biblio Stug [IMG] title ? do think it is OOP though but most probably the best written. The outfit also did a book on the Stug DK winners too.......but think it's in the same situation. Why do all the great works go OOP ? crap

Oh--it's worth it but, I just don't think I can afford to spend that cash till July--next month will be a slim month for me in available funds--untill I get my Tax refund in from the IRS.

Definately by July--i'll either print it out or just hand copy it all down. I have about 100 sheets of printed RKT stuff, plus about 14 sheets of stuff printed about DKiGs. Much more to come later.

Yeah--I agree...Too many excellent titles that are Out of Print. [IMG] [IMG]

I'm now looking for three very expensive books which will set me back about $300.00. If I can get my hands on these, I don't have to worry about newer titles coming out with this info.
