Casey Anthony trial

Anyone else think Jose Baez is an absolute clown? ...Caylee died in the pool and George found her? ...Why the duct tape over Caylee's mouth and nose? CNN has some good real time trial proceedings coverage... To hear Jose expound is jaw dropping at every turn....George Anthony abused Casey? Thinking they should have gone the insanity route.

 

I believe that the woman will be found guilty, and while I doubt she will get the death penalty I wouldn't be surprised at a life without parole verdict. The "Daddy abused me" excuse is getting old, and less and less effective as a defense. She really just wanted to be a "party girl" again, at least that is how it appears to myself when I do watch or even read about the case.

I have no sympathy for her at this moment, over a month of "no child"? The the "nanny kidnapped her", followed by "I don't know where she is", and other contradictory stories. The photos of her in the 'Hot Body' contests while the daughter is missing don't help.

 

CNN has the live feed. When police first questioned her, she was not helping by giving out info about Caylee. Looks bad. Real bad. She weaves a web of deceit.....Jose just tried to say they didn't have enough time to prepare. lol 5 lawyers and 3 years. He wants to be in the limelight sooo bad by dragging this trial on. He's unarmed in a battle of wits.

 

Jose questioned a detective about a whole bunch of nothing. He asked the detective " Do you remember asking Casey if she had ever committed suicide?" ( the whole courtroom erupts in laughter) .
Detective " I doubt if I could Have asked if her if she had committed suicide! Maybe if she had ever considered it.".

 

Maybe after 5 lawyers this level of expertise is all she can afford, i.e. the last of the public defender pool.

 

Think she currently has 5 lawyers working her case. Not sure how many have quit. Weird how he shoots down his client about constant lying, then comes up with the pool and molestation doozy. Who's lying now. Understand it's his job to create confusion and doubt, but.... He needs a tag line. Along the " if it don't fit, you must acquit " line of the deceased Johnny Cochran. Like "She's not to blame, she's insane. Insane in the membrane.".

 

Too funny Poppy, but I don't think she can afford the "dream team" that OJ put together. And in the end, he too lost and is looking out from the inside. Too bad it isn't for what most persons are sure he did in the deaths of his ex and the unfortunate Goldman (?) boy who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

His team could throw just enough "doubt" into the mix that he couldn't be convicted on "reasonable doubt" portion, and I agree in the true sense of the concept. I don't agree with the racial split on how it was accepted. I'm a white guy, and an admitted fan of the "Juice", but there were so many odd parts of that case that while I don't doubt he was involved deeply in the murders, the process of evidence was so flawed it shouldn't have been a conviction by ignoring them.

I'm reasonably sure he was guilty as the can be, but the evidence was so poorly handled and presented that the "guilty" verdict would have been flawed, and he would have been out on appeal until he screwed up again. And "tah-dah" that is just what he did.

 

OJ's case was butchered by the prosecution. They failed an easy case. Allowing the defense to muddy the water. The evidence in retrospect was overwhelming. Have you heard of Chris Darden or Marcia Marcia lately? Absolutely botched the case. I'd encourage you to revisit the trial. The jurors were incompetent. The Judge was spineless. Prosecution laughable. When OJ fumbled with the glove like it didn't fit....horrendous. The bloody socks under the bed. The huge gash on his finger. The knife he used, plane trip, white bronco tour, disguise and money, missing luggage. It goes on and on.

 

How'd you like to be married to Nancy Grace? She has the "beotch" look etched into her face. She is so rude to her guests. It HAS to be an act.

Had to go to the Prince of Wales hotel in Waterton. 200$ a night and no washroom....I'm sure Jose came up with some whoppers though. Really dislike Casey. Looks like she killed the child to spite her parents. And party.

 

You have to be a special kind of lawyer to handle Casey Anthony and the overwhelming case against her. Even Perry Mason would turn against her.

When I did my internship, one of the cases I worked on was an attempted murder case. We had our ducks in a row, but that defense attorney took a case that should have lasted six hours tops, and turned it into a three and a half day ordeal. When it was over, the Judge dismissed the jurors, then launched into the defense attorney. The Judge promised to have him disbarred.

I haven't been able to watch any of the trial yet - because I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick.

I know this completely defeats the whole idea of justice and innocence until proven guilty. But I haven't got an ounce of sympathy for this girl and I believe that everything she has done has pointed not just to her guilt but to her having deliberately murdered her daughter.

Not that it is not obvious, but as a mother who has lost her child, I can unequivocally tell you that Casey's behavior after Caylee went "missing," and had she truly only been missing, was bizarre and inexcusable. If you throw in the "story" that she accidentally killed Caylee, it makes it even more inexcusable and indefensible. If your child dies you are traumatized and you cannot function, you may even drown your sorrows in alcohol, but you do not go out partying and posing for pictures and acting the way she did.

She is a sociopath. And she is evil.

Funny that they threw old George under the bus right off the bat though. Two of the few allies she had were her parents. I would imagine that if you ticked those two off they'd have a whole lot of fuel to add to the fire, like they did in the immediate aftermath when they spilled the facts that the car smelled like a dead body and that she'd been rummaging in the shed for shovels and tools and that she'd stolen money from them. Turning them against her doesn't seem like a smart idea to me. But then what do I know? I am not an attorney.

 

Clementine, you are 100% correct.

It is the job of the defense lawyer to create a doubt. It doesn't have to be a reasonable doubt, becuse in the US you are convicted beyond a reasonable doubt. You can be convicted on circumstansial evidence, but it has to be overwhelming. Because evidence in this case isn't concrete, you have to convict on that mountain of circumstansial evidence. I think the prosecution is doing that, but if that defense lawyer gets to only one juror, that's all he needs.

We expect our lawyers to be Perry Mason and Jack McCoy, when in reality it comes down to who puts us to sleep less.

 

Presumption of innocence is only applied in court. We do not have to follow that rule because we are able to use our judgement. Is Joran Vandersloot considered innocent in anyone's mind.....Heard that George's first wife ( I KNOW! ) said he was a a habitual liar. His goal was to be employed not as a police officer, but as a suited character @ Disneyland... This may explain some of Casey's behavior. .. I mean - Casey has issues. Genetic insane in the membrane? Apples don't fall far from the tree.

 

What we've lost track of here is that a precious and defenseless two year old girl was murdered. The truth has been lost in self important adults, who didn't have time for a precious child that they were supposed to care for and protect. I think of the people who go to bed everynight praying for a child because they are unable to have a child. I weep for them. And what really makes this even the more sad and tragic, was that the child's body was found in garbage, discarded like a used vegtable can or old tire.

 

Decision is completely FU'd. Amazed. ..So I guess she will have to be sued by her parents in civil court? For even a smidgen of justice. Like OJ?..Where is that tramp gonna stay? Go back home? If that family had issues before, imagine Christmas dinner now. Baez dragged everyone within reach into the dirt. How can a lawyer just trash innocenty people and get away with it? And he comes out clean, prolly make millions now... Hell in a handbasket comes to mind.
