I have a photo of a German soldier with a message written on the back. I was wondering if someone could translate it for me, very curious as to what it says! The photo and the back of the photo are in the two links below. Thanks in advance. IMG_2809.jpg picture by Honda16Kelly - Photobucket IMG_2806.jpg picture by Honda16Kelly - Photobucket
It's a humorsitic description of his personality to his siter in law. The translation sounds as follows. My personality : sometimes wanting and satisfied. sometimes sad and wise. sometimes full of knwoledge sometimes one should hide. My dear sister in law ....... from the the 1939/40 war winter your Paul .
Thank you so much Skipper, that is very nice now knowing what that says. I also have this small photo, of what looks like a some sort of memorial, but the photo is too small for me to tell. There is writing on the back of this one as well. IMG_2810.jpg picture by Honda16Kelly - Photobucket IMG_2810.jpg picture by Honda16Kelly - Photobucket
It's the unknwown soldier grave in Paris and probably the first November 11th celebration under German occupation. ( 1940). The grave is under the Arc de Triomphe on the Chapms Elysées. the text is hard to decypher but its says "Grab" = grave and "unbekannter" = unknown and considering the huge amount of flowers it has to be the first time some Germans had a chance to commemorate this grave.
